Speckled Sussex may not be the best layers, but they are extremely sociable and friendly, and talk all the time. They lay a nice brown egg. I always have a few in my flock.

Saga of the FedEx package... I'm having it sent to a delivery/pickup location in Lowell, about 12 miles away. It's not there yet. I'll ask if I can have stuff sent there when I order anything, because this is a real PITA.

The very interesting story of their development is on their website. They sound like excellent birds, hardy, fruitful and beautiful.

I haven't personally ordered chick via mail, but have read numerous stories where it was clearly a good idea to visit the post office beforehand.

I like to pick my own chicks. If I mess up and get a roo, it's my fault. And it's only 30min drive home. Just me.

I wish I could go pick out these chicks! But I really want Bielefelders. Maybe in a year or two, TSC will have them.

Oh, finally (FINALLY) got my package. Everything seems to be ok. It was well packed.
