We lost over half the garden this year since we go bad flooding, and awful squash bugs that won’t stop eating everything, and we all got extremely sick for two weeks and it was all we could do to feed the horses and flock each day. Thankfully we still got a good amount though.

And yeah my family got sick 2 weeks weeks ago. My parents think it was covid cause my brothers family down the hill tested positive. Thankfully I only had 1 bad day where I barely wanted to leave bed and slept alot of the day aside from taking care of the flock but my mother got hit hard. Sucks when it seems like sickness almost stops the whole household.
Any complaints I have about my gardens' output is solely on me. I could/should have done more upkeep and paid attention to issues. I still have potatoes and sweet potatoes to dig.
I'm excited about the sweet potatoes. This is my second try growing them. The first time, I got zilch, nada, nothing. This year, I planted them in the sandy soil garden, as the first time they were in the heavy soil, which they don't like, but I didn't know that. A couple days ago, I pulled the smallest plant, the one that I didn't think would even grow. To my surprise, there were 4 small (1" dia, by about 4" long) sweet potatoes! If that little plant can make some, I bet the vines that are growing all over will make more/bigger tubers.

It can be hard to get enough what they call heat days to grow sweet potatoes up here. Check out the Sand Hill Preservation website, he is really into sweet potatoes and gives a lot of growing information.

My onions did great ( long day Blush F1 hybrids from Renee's Garden) as usual.
Garlic looked kind of scrawny, but I got better heads than I've had before.
Sweet peas were a bust this year, they weren't that sweet and there weren't that many of them.
No tomatoes. I decided after years of spending most of my gardening time nursing them along only to get a few tomatoes and have the rest of them freeze or rot, it was far more cost-effective and a lot less irritating to go to the weekly farmers market and buy some. Same with cucumbers.
There is not enough hot weather up here to be able to properly grow melons of any kind. And I have something here in the soil that causes squash to rot just after they start to form fruit.

Dreamz, Glad to hear from you but sorry to hear you are still having health issues. Trying to adjust to new medications can be very frustrating. Hope you feel better soon.
First pullet egg of the year! A nice chocolate brown from my French Marans pullet, almost 22 weeks old! She didn't know what she was doing, the egg was on the ground right outside of the coop. Still terrific!

I did call in sick today. I was a few minutes late with my call so I got a "double reprimand" from the store director. Like I really give a damn.
I think I've managed to sleep off the worst of this whatever bug. I did manage to be awoke enough to tend to the chickens before going back to sleep. I sure hate being under the weather. At least I should be done for the rest of the year.

Sorry to hear you are sick, glad you stayed home to rest though. Hope you recover quickly!
