Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

My girls have been molting hard for the last couple months. I think I'm Down to my final hen molting. It is nice to see feathers again on the two girls who had bare necks for the whole summer. I'm getting between 0-2 eggs a day. 2, today, but one was broken. My one reliable layer is the hen with the shell gland issue, and the weak shells. But I haven't been able to figure out which hen it is

This rain needs to stop. So oddly warm. But I was able to get my porch cleared of Christmas decorations.

My timer out at the coop is working, intermittently. This morning the light wasn't on out there, and tonight I'm not going out there in the rain. No wonder egg production is down! Our pullets are laying, but most of the hens aren't doing much. Oh well, never mind!
We have sandy soil, so not so much mud, but is sure is wet! Driving home in the rain and dark, not fun.
Christmas was good, at daughter's house, and no plans for New year's. A nice evening at home, with a fire. Perfect!

At least the rain has been light here. I let the chickens out. We have a higher deck so they like to hang out under there, and have their run and coop. Ready for some sunshine. These gloomy days sure bring you down. Sure fun playing with the new pup out in the rain. 😬 but need to get that energy out. At least it’s light.
Gosh, where has the year gone? It’s been a roller coaster, hope 2024 is smoother.

I have one of my 8 month olds going through a molting. First her fluffy bottom feathers were thin, now she has bald patches on her head. Lots of new coming in. Still laying, and laying extra large eggs now. Odd ball?
My first set of chickens had a partial molt their first winter. I thought their heads had shrunk. Yup, they laid through it too.
