Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

RaZ believes that it is almost 5 am. RaZ did go to bed but RaZ had insomnia. RaZ got up about 2:30 am. RaZ is taking eggs and honey to his attorney later this morning. RaZ hopes he will be coherent when the sun comes up.

I've got a problem totally non-chicken related and I am asking if any of you have any ideas to help me? I'm beginning to think this is hopeless. I'm probably providing way more info than needed but I just don't know what might be relevant......
I think it's in the best interest of everyone to put them down. If a dog attacks once, it'll do it again. Why risk it being someones kid next time just to rehab a dog who wasn't properly trained to begin with. It sucks when your neighbors problems end up being your problems. Rather then stress yourself about it I would just let the owner do the right thing and put him down. This is why I'm glad I don't live that close to anyone...I don't have to worry about what goes on in their backyards! I have enough going on in my own life lol.

Well my morning began with the kid yelling for me. Since his surgery he has become OVERLY fond of yelling for mom to help him when it really is not necessary. I also received an email that during our night (time zones) My Aunt and Uncle's home burned down in Alaska. They were not home at the time which is good since they weren't hurt but also because they are on an island 5 miles from a town and I'm sure would have tried to save it on their own. My cousin says they are in good hands - which with the distance there is no way for us to help.

The wind last night was horrible! Thankfully the snow was too heavy to blow around much. This morning is calm and peaceful....but no sun.

I was working in the chicken yard yesterday and was almost taken out by all the ice and snow coming off the roof. Very scary for myself and chickens. I dug through the pile to make sure no one was under it. So I was thinking of the changes I want made. I have made a deal with my husband that he can have the cement slab the chicken coop sits on for his workshop/garage, if he helps me move the coop and expand it.

It would be good for both of us so we'll see.

I am so sorry to hear about you aunt and uncles house I pray they are OK

for the dog..... could he have a food allergy? maybe changing what he eats would help. I have one that gets bad ears due to food.

If my current dog was put down vs given to rescue for his bad behavior and actual biting of his owners....... I wouldn't have the awesome dog I have now. Certain dogs need the right handling, he's never gone after me again after our first walk. So dogs just need to understand who the leader is.

There are way too many bad owners out there, making "bad" dogs, then there are people who can help. I can't say yes put him down, unless I actually saw the dog... so I hope they can resolve the situation.

Tap - really sad about your aunt and uncles home, glad they are ok.

Juise is behind again already, but did read far enough to see the bit about screen-printing. Juise does do screen-printing. Juise even does it in the U.S.A. - Juise promises not to fly overseas just to print them, although she would be open to that if you wanted her to and were willing to pay. Juise can print both shirts and bags if she is notified in time. Juise suggests these totes, although she does not know what price range or size you are looking for, but they are made in the U.S.A. Let Juise know if interested.

Additionally, Juise believes that it is after 4 in the morning, and that she really ought to be in bed by now. G'night.
I love when Juise starts talking in 3rd person!
How much would Juise charge?
So glad they are okay!

I am also a dog lover. My thought process would be this. If you had a home that was very dog smart, and this animal was placed as an only dog, and without children there is a chance that rehab could take place. That being said, finding a home like that would be difficult. I know that people can go on both sides of the fence here... My feeling is this, would you blame yourself if something happened with that dog later in life? If that dog were to bite again? I will be honest. I have a rottie female that is dominate in my house. When my fiance and I moved in together, along with me came my boxer. No major issues at first. The previous owners of my boxer allowed their labs to be rough and my dog learned that behavior. There was one time that she tried to be dominate over our rottie. It was bad, I heard the rot growl and warn her to stop, the boxer is a dummy ( I say it lovingly LOL) and didn't think she should, All it took was one bite from the rottie and boxer learned that this behavior was bad. Now, we did take precautions after that happened. They are always locked in kennels when we are not home and when fed. For almost 2 weeks even when we were home they were not allowed to be loose in the house at the same time. When we did reintroduce them the boxer would leave a room in the rottie came in. She learned her place. Now again the rottie did not do this unprovoked, however we know that there is not another home that would be able to care for her. We also feel that we have taken all precautions appropriate to insure this never happens again. All of that being said...it takes a very special kind of person to take on the responsibility of trying to rehab an animal that they don't know. I will be honest, even if I didn't have my dogs I would not be willing to take on something of that nature. It might be in the best interest of the animal to be put down. As sad as that is, it is much better than having them be bounced from home to home the rest of their life due to behavior issues....Now is you are dead set on helping this dog, I do know someone that is involved in animal behavior and would be willing to send you more information about them via PM. Best of luck!!!

Raz, do you need anything to take to the meeting? Can we write more letters? Have you heard anything about a committee that was supposed to be formed?

Someone nearby was toking on some weed just now. The air outside reeks of it! There is hardly any wind, with a light breeze coming from the southeast, where some woods are. I am guessing someone is enjoying themselves back there, hopefully they have enough snacks!

I guess I find it kind of funny, since when I lived in Milwaukee, I'd catch a whiff of it quite often. This is the first time since moving to the UP that I've noticed that particular scent.
