About the goat thing. I showed 4-h pygmy goats for 5 years, we have 1 weather that has been without any goat buddies for 7 years...he does just fine. He does come and play wity the horses every now and then, but thats it. He is 10 years old and still thriving and happy. We can pet him but he isnt an overly friendly goat

Your wether is definitely the exception. Most goats who are kept alone are stressed out and LOUD. Horses can be companions, as long as the goat isn't afraid of the horses and horse doesn't try to stomp the goat to death, as some horses hate goats. My aunt took in a few horses from a terrible situation, and with the two horses came an old goat. The goat had only known those two horses for her entire life (she was 14, from her ear tattoo info). But since she and the horses were a 'herd', she wasn't really alone.

My sheep, that aren't goats but close enough, bleat frantically if they get separated for more than a minute. If one thinks its being followed and heads outside and then realizes the others aren't behind it, they scream bloody murder until reunited. I can't imagine raising one without the others.

My daughter likes to take our goats for walks. :) They like it ok, unless she tries to take 1 of them out alone. She finally compromised with the goats. They will let her walk them on a leash, if she's just doing laps inside their pen area where the others can follow along... OR she can take them out off the pen if she has one of her friends over, or her brother, to lead the others on leashes too. I think they actually prefer that since they all go straight for the hay field. LOL. They refuse to play the little girl's game, even for hay, if they can't do it together. Pure separation anxiety.

Another day is underway and while the temperatures are going to be about 50 degrees less than what I like to see it is still going to be a good day.

For those of you living in the Howell area Tractor Supply will be getting chicks on the 25th. Think I may have to pick up a 1/2 dozen ISA Browns.

Good Morning!

Um, I have cows, and the goat will be living in the same pasture with the cows.

Anyway, good morning everyone! Been up since 1:16 am! Now back home from work.
