Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

They are getting so darn big!

This one I am naming Queen Bee. She always wins queen of the feeder! The only other ones with names are Blondie (very much lighter than the others) and Ru (I suspect it's a he and that is also my cousins nickname from our family name).

Welcome to the group..

hard to explain, egg bound is when a egg is stuck in your hen, and she is having trouble passing it thru to the outside of her.. for me internal laying my last one that past i did a necropsy and she had a big egg yolk looking tumor in her, lost lots of weight, started out just standing around looking like a penquin, listless.. and walking slow.. not eating much..first time it happen took 2 month b4 i put the hen down, this one yesturday took about a week for her to get bad where she was unable to walk..
I am new to chickens, if you put internal laying in your address bar.. the internet has lots of info on the subject.. hope this helps.

I think we're all ready for sunshine. Didn't the groundhog tell us that spring would come early this year????

I just came in from cleaning my coop and putting some fresh pine shavings in there.. gorgeous day out there.

Just a short break from firewood chores...

Gathered 8 eggs by noon today, one was a fart egg but still bigger than a bantam egg.

My BLA is getting picked on by the ISA brown bully bird, so I have a notion to put her in with the Sebright chicks.

Any thoughts on this idea? Sizewise, the chicks are about half as big as the BLA.

is the Bla new to the flock.
remove bully by separating in a crate or put the bla with the sebrights.. good luck..

This lockdown is driving me crazy. i keep looking for pips.. nothing.. its only day 19.. i know its early..

No, Gravy (the BLA) has been here for about 2 years now. She is the only bantam in the flock. It is one of the year old ISA bit...witches that gets nasty towards her.

I think that I'll bring in the other big brooder tomorrow for the 4 week Sebrights and add Gravy to see if she is happier. I can keep them separate and watch what happens. I could also put her with the ducklings as they are of similar size and Gravy loved the orphan mallards last year.

Or I can just send those lousy ISAs to freezer camp...
