Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

HELLO! Ladies and Gents, my boy is 7 today. I am making him a vanilla cake. With white icing...He wants a chicken picture on it. Yes. Not kidding. Not one darned bit. Only he wants a silkie. How the heck am I going to make a silkie out of icing? Oh. Geez. Will definetly get a picture of it. I may have to talk him in to letting me do a regular old rooster. Like a Blue Marans, or a GLW/SLW... LOL.

Anyone got any ideas on how to make a silkie? Maybe sprinkles.. Aw man...

Yes, those big totes are great brooders. I actually LOVE scifisarah's brooder. That is one kick rear brooder. LOL. I built my brooder, and now it doubles for everything else. A broody coop, hospital coop, brooder... and currently it is living quarters for 3 silkies, 1 broody who's not broody at the moment, but she's taken a liking to Roger Jr, and won't move back to the coop, and, Pat. LOL. Need to build another one. Less 8 dollars to build. More if you need to buy chicken wire.

They make frosting bag tips that you can use to make strands like hair. Perhaps those might work? http://www.wilton.com/store/site/pr...A052B&fid=3E3324C3-475A-BAC0-5DF027EB4874EBF7
Like tip number 233, my mom would use to make green icing look like grass on her easter cakes.

And ha ha ha, only in a chicken thread can you find the words cock and nipple used without being related to anything Adult Only rated.

If you have a picture of one you local grocery store bakery should be able to copy it onto rice paper that they use. That's what we usually do :)

Awww!! My baby boy is 1 today!

We're doing a last-minute cake thing and I was lame and went to Meijer and bought one.

I too am fighting the chick urge. I want to get some eggs soooooo badly and see if high humidity during lock-down was my issue. Nooooo. Not until April. Not. Until. April.

Nova - for a white silkie you could use coconut.

Looking for an opinion on a chicken. Back the last warm days of November I gave my silkie rooster Buzz a bath, he had been pooped on. While being washed he dunked himself twice - head under. He sneezed a lot at the time but was doing good so out he went the next day. I have noticed since then, him sneezing and it never cleared up all the way. Now that it has been cold I noticed some more sneezing out of him. He has no sign of illness or any symptoms of anything. He is super active and I think part of his problem is if the coop is open he is outside no matter the weather. He has gotten himsef soaked to the skin a couple times since and i had to dry him. I don't like treating if I really don't know what's going on but he has a great personality and I don't want him sick either. Any suggestions?
