Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I was just called and offered the job! Very happy and giddy right now, haha. Orientation is next week! I am finally getting to put my CNA certification to work!
I would say that is a very good sign.. Good Luck.. Hope you get the position..sounds like you took all the appropriate measures for a good interview.

Good luck, stacy

Stacykins, it sounds like you'd better plan to get that job. Congrats.

I'm planning for spring when we plan to get 3 (or so) bantams. I was thinking 2 cochins and a silkie, but then I saw bantam orpingtons. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a breeder of bantam orpingtons in W. MI? I might end up going cochin, silkie, b.o, if I can find all 3.

I would think its a good sign. Good luck, hope you get the job

You may want to consider 2 birds... Just bringing in one bird to an existing flock will leave her lonely and vulnerable being the newbie she's bound to be picked on terribly. If she comes in to the flock with another girl from her previous flock, it would be best.

Welcome to BYC!
Ditto!

I know of no one selling turkeys yet. In a couple of months or so they will have them at TSC and Family Farm and Home. Or, depending on how many you want you could order some. You could always try to find someone to split an order with too.

Stacy, I almost didn't recognize you...congrats on the new job

Keep in mind the turkeys at tractor supply are usally, BBW and BBB meat turkeys that will need processed in a few months. If you want heritage birds to keep year round, you'll need to order heritage birds from a hatchery or breeder.

If all goes well, I'll have some Royal Palms soon.

Welcome to the new folks!
Yeah my problem with the eggs, I wasn't expecting them to hatch yet.. I didn't have any humidity going yet. So I had to open a little to get a little water in there, and nabbed the chicks when I did it.
Congrats on the job Stacykins!
