Welcome to the thread, be sure to check out the threads for this years Chickenstock on June 23.When I asked our township about the local laws, they said 10 chickens and when I asked about a rooster she said she did not see anything against it. I know there is the right to farm act (is that what it is called?) but my SO works for the government. I do not think he would be willing to fight to keep more (not that it is an issue right now). My one neighbor has 4 ducks, so I do not think there will be to much issues from her. I was thinking of putting the coop closer to her yard (once I can get pics on the computer I will post a picture to get thoughts).
As to your question, if your local ordinance already allows poultry, I would just say "thank you" and be done with it. Are they likely to come do a beak count?
The state law, commonly referred to as MRTFA uses the GAAMPs to manage farm operations and while there is no size limit, they tend to favour large commercial operations. Many smaller operations have successfully used the courts to keep their flocks. This has been going on for years and there is a lot of history.
