Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Does anyone have any Light/coronation sussex? Prefer just the light sussex actually, as it seems to jump the price rediculously for a coronation... Anyway, neighbor is interested in them and delawares if there is anyone with them. Thanks.

I have light sussex split with coronation. Have hatching eggs available. Not high priced as Greenfire farm. :)

Now, that I do not have that land in mind anymore. I am on the market for farmlands, but do not have enough money at the moment, but saving. :D I hope that I will do very well on my poultry sales this year, so I can start a land contract by fall. My mom have found one, but its only 10 acres, but it have 2 barns and a house for only $87,00! My goal was to have a farm no less than 20 acres and upward 100 acres. May have to change that if I can't find a suitable farm close to work, feedmill, family, church, and friends. But this farm is 16 miles from where I live now. I will look around more, but will hold on to that until I find a better one. Maybe you guys can help me find one? :)

I found a fellow Southwest Michigan BYCer on Craigslist today... She only lives 15 minutes from me. It's funny how large BYC is and how small that makes our chicken world.

Cool! always invite people to BYC!
Kudos. I always try to promote this thread when I meet people at the feed store or TSC or whenever the topics of chickens come up.
They had Rouens, Pekins and Khaki Campbells... ;)
(By the way, getting caught up on old posts - It looks like Meyer Hatchery is out of wild Mallards for next week. If you see something else you want, go ahead and order it for pick up and I"ll bring it back for you. :)

I admire your aspirations and your outlook. I would live in a tent if I could get 10 acres for me and my critters.

So not used to getting up this early. Neither are the chickens n goats. When I brought them food and water, the chooks all grumbled at me like moody teenagers. The goats were more confused at the interruption of their sleep. Time to start a day shift at my nurse's aide job. Should prove to be a busy day!

Morning. :)

Would any of you care to take a guess at this mystery bantam I have? I picked up 6 chicks from TSCs bantam bin yesterday. I know I have 4 silkies, and another I'm pretty sure is a golden sebright. This last little one I'm not sure about - the face looks like the Sebright one, but the backside is different. Any guesses?

HaH - I beat Opa up, no coffee?

I was up at 430 and had my first cup of coffee 10 minutes later. Read all the posts on the Michigan thread, worked the LA Times crossword, and then got Granny up to take her for a blood test. This was the last of the weekly tests and the doctors have decided that she is doing so well that she can now go to monthly tests.
