Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Ok... My oldest wants a painting of a rooster... SO, I have drawn 2 for him to pic from... Maybe... I don't know. Will have to redraw them with watercolor pencil onto water paper... BUT Opinions please...

Or even make a painting of this one with all four cockerels...
Nova, this is really nice! Especially if it was in bright colours - I love the composition.

I know early, but does anyone have any poultry swap dates, and I know about the bigger spring and fall show...but is there any other shows? Including country fairs, is there open classes at some county fairs? Would love to fill in my calender with dates.

Top drawing is cool.. more visual interest, however, I would suggest eliminating the diagonal line (stick in back ground) in front and behind the roo... it visually divides the drawing (nice job by the way).

You have some darn good looking Fav roos. I may need to discuss future purchase. Mine seem so beard weak.

OH and guess what? Farmer - don't look!! LOL! I'm working DH over for this little fella!
He will be my herd buck. From Sugar Creek lines, suppose to be good I hear.

And he has blue eyes!!

*UPDATE*: Casanova (goat) is coming home Sunday!

He is adorable!! You're making me want another goat! No, I have no more room, I won't do it! Umm maybe... ugh, nope, can't happen. LOL.

We have 3 nigerian dwarf wethers. We took the boys that nobody wanted to buy. They're a little bit bigger, all have brown eyes... and they are a ton of FUN! We love them,... but 3 is enough. Oh, but he sure is a cutie.

CONGRATS! He is an absolutely adorable boy! I love his rich buckskin coloration! I hope his conformation turns out well so he is a great herdsire!

Since I assume he is going to be a bottle baby, just be sure to establish ground rules with him. Bottle baby bucks can be a little amorous towards humans when they finally reach sexual maturity. He definitely needs to know he is a goat so he doesn't attempt to make sweet (smelly) goat love with your leg OR hurt you.

well. Erm. I now have what appears to be a banty EE/cochin or marans mix. She hung out at my brother's house for a few days, and never went home, and no one near them has chickens that they know of. So, this morning I drove over and picked her up. Cute little thing!

My silkie laid an egg yesterday some time. In the middle of the coop. Needless to say, when I found it it was frozen and cracked, but hopefully she's going to start producing (and go broody!) sometime in the next few months.

I was considering a dedicated sex-link or heavy layer to add. Really don't care for how the Isas look, so maybe a black sex-link or something.

GIVE ME THE GOAT!!!!

yes, with home made matting. LOL. I haven't painted anything in a LONG time, let alone with water paint... I don't really count the paint by numbers... that had the outlines already done... Ok... so this one did too. I ended up taping the original drawing to the back of the water color paper, then taping that to the window with the sun coming through, and using the window as my easel. LOL. Anyway... Might have to reconsider doing it with acrylics to get a brighter color. BUT, I hope my boy is happy with it...

I have 3 ISA Browns and I won't get them again. Good layers but not friendly. One is a bully bird to my banty. And they are kind of ugly.
My BSLs are wonderful, friendly egg machines.
I'm really leaning towards salmon faverolle right now.

I sure hope so too, hard to tell when he's a day old..... The breeder said he should be.. but........ I know there's no guarantees. Thanks for the helpful tips.. I want a nice buck, but not one that friendly! LOL!

Nova - NO!! LOL! Nice start on the painting!
