I'm sure he'd be super popular at CS!!!

I am getting baby fever, badly! My doe is due to pop in 21 days, exactly three weeks!!!!!!!!!!

When I feed her in the evening, I've been wrapping my hands around her big belly so I can feel her babies! They are active little ones! She has got to have at least two in there, since I can feel kid movement very far apart. Usually I put my hand over the left horn area of her uterus, and then one underneath, right before her udder.

Can't wait to see picts of your babies Stacykins!

I look forward to this part of goats too...It won't be till next year about this time that I get to enjoy babies. I wanted to give my little girl some maturing time since she seems so small to me. And of course, lover boy needs to grow up too! I am excited about the whole idea! I hope to obtain one more doe next spring. The only thing I'm not going to look forward to is getting up earlier to milk her! LOL!

Well....these baby chicks are almost not baby chicks anymore. I had to go buy 3 one gallon drinkers today to replace the 4 one quart drinkers they had. I'm glad their hydrating so well. I did have a talk with them about being more cleanly. I don't think they were listening though. I counted them yesterday for the first time while cleaning there brooder....I have 47 chicks. When I first got them and put them in the brooder...I thought...WOW...they have allot of room...now....not so much anymore. I hope I can keep them in there for a few more weeks without overcrowding them.

My wife is going to kill me if I have to put an addition onto the brooder...lol.

I see what you all have been saying about the dust. My daily cleaning get's it out....but WOW them little buggers can create some dust. I have had so much fun the last few weeks with these chicks. I can't wait to see them all feathered out and strutting around. I look forward to the day when I can let them free range out in the yard and gorge themselves on the thousands of dandy-lion's we get. I can just imagine getting a lawn chair with a cold ice tea and just sit and watch my girls having fun in the yard.

I've gone so many places and done so many things.....but it's the simple things I enjoy the most and really appreciate.

I also wanted to thank you all for being so welcoming and patient with me. Your advice has been invaluable and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It's a rare thing these days to find people as great as all of you. I look forward to meeting some of you at ChickenStock!

If there's ever anything I can do for you all....please don't hesitate to ask. I drive from the North Branch area to the Mt Clemens area during the week for work. So if you metro Detroiters ever need chickens or whatever brought from up here to down there (or vice-versa), I am at your service. Crazy chicken ranch is not far from me....either is Starbright Farms. If you order from them....I can take them down to you. I think theres a hatchery in Birch Run also....that's not far from me either.

Sounds great! ...and then winter depression rushes back as soon as I look outside. Snow, blech... We've got a bit to go yet!

Right now I would rather see snow cover. My back yard is a huge muddy mess. At least snow hides that.
The snow storm of last week was barely 2 inches and melted within a couple of days.

I'm in Allegan county... it's pretty much lake effect central here!

I agree that a muddy mess makes for gross egg collecting and sloppy barn chores, but that's my only beef with it. I'd probably still take the wet mess cuz I DESPISE snow & cold. :) LOL.
