Roofs are removable for sunny days. Bottom is hardware cloth. Hoses for waterers.



Top right has electrical and heat lamps for the babies.

Those are cool! But...I have to admit they look like coffins that popped out of the ground! LOL

In the mean time, I have had the worst morning sickness, which is actually all day sickness. The kids did not make it to school on Monday because I could not make it to the end of our short driveway to put one on the bus (he is autistic and 5 years old. Not like he can do it himself) and taking the other to school was out of the question. Sadly I have no one to help. Luckily the OB finally took me seriously and sent in a script for something. My issue is not keeping food down, it is movement making me ill. I can handle the nausea if I stay still. Anyway, this med takes the edge off. I am about 8 weeks along.

Well crap. Google is going to get me into trouble one of these days! Found out that there is an Ameraucana breeder (John Blehm) in Birch Run, and he sells his cull chicks on CL. And I reeeeaaaaalllly want some Ameraucanas. In a month. Not now. Going on vacation soon, and don't want the house sitter to have to chick-sit too.

Plus, Birch Run is about 3 hours away. So there is that factor as well. *sigh* Shoot. Shoot. Shoot.

I don't work today or tomorrow and I'm so very very tempted to just drive down and back today. But I like my husband. I like being married to him. So I should probably muster up some self-control.

Sounds like a good reason to plan a day trip... do a bit of outlet mall shopping as well.

Hand hubby whatever you bought him from the mall first, and stuff the chicks in the brooder while he's busy playing with his new toy. Oh, and if you stop at "Tony's" for lunch... they serve a POUND of BACON there as a side. Can't go wrong with bacon... Ever. LOL.

Keeping meaties to get breeding stock can be a challenge. Not only will you seriously need to curtail their bred in need to eat, you would have to AI the hens as the roos would be to big to mount the hens. HOWEVER you could keep the hens a year or so, again serious feed restrictions, have them covered by a DP breed, incubate the chicks your self. There is a guy down in Illinois who is working on a CX x with a DP to get a meatier DP that's still a good egg layer. I think he's using Ameracaunas.

Bento congrats on the preggo state! Hope you won't have the morning/all day sickness the whole time.

I am only 20 min from Birch Run. When I go to Tony's its about the ice cream LOL Half gallon for a bannana split! haha Talk about having to share a plate

YAY my new Eco 20 Brooder is coming in the mail tomorrow. Guess that will mean I will ahve chicks in the hosue this weekend! My local TSC didn't get the BO's in this week. I may have to check around for them. Has anyone seen Black Austalorps at a TSC between Howell and Ann Arbor?

the pullorum class was very good, a little long,but maybe it seemed long cause we were watching the time. Daron needed to be home by 1:15 to take his sister to school, (We didn't make it)

for those in the UP, Dr. Fulton said they will be holding a Pullorum testing class in the UP this spring, Escanoba?(sp)   no date set yet most likely April or May


They also said something about checking sales and swaps for pullorum testing papers, 


Daron and I are going to try to get his flock done, soon, my antigen will have expired by June but Dr.Fulton says it is still good for some time after if kept in fridge.  
I will bring my pullorum equipment to CS, and would be glad to show how it works(if I have any antigen left)

The class was good, but as Snowflake said it seems long as we kept looking at the time, I managed to understand/hear all the speakers well, considering me being deaf. Learned a lot, and can't wait to try it out on my flock with Snowflake, and be NPIP certified!!!

They sure are quiet. Hardly any loud peeping at all.
