Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

He had difficulty believing that we had neither worms or minnows and even more difficulty understanding that we were fishing with lures. He claim to have never used lures and didn't have any. I almost suggested that he use one of the ones hanging from his face. He looked as if he might have fallen face first into a tackle box. With the big discs in his earlobes, metal hanging from eyebrows, nose, lips, and checks, plus the dragon tattoo encircling his neck and extending up on to his face, I sure his momma is thrilled to show his latest photo to all her friends and neighbors.
I don't care either way for ink or piercings but I sometimes wonder if those with gauged ears have any concept of what happens to skin as it ages. One of the problems of being young is not thinking ahead.

I did open up the four of my eggs that did not hatch. All four had perfectly formed little chicks just waiting to hatch. I'm not really sure if my ventilation was too low or if it was just being shipped eggs. Either way it is disappointing.

Yesterday I chipped ice and packed snow around the coop and run. I start work today and want everyone in the run. During the time I was sick and DH took care of the birds he didn't clear any snow and so it was packed down enough the run door wouldn't close. My shoulders are sore today, but the door shuts now. I also had a squirrel chew up my one plastic feed container. I guess I need to find a large metal one to replace it. The plastic container would hold 200# of feed where as the small metal ones don't hold even half as much.

Oh, and if you stop at "Tony's" for lunch... they serve a POUND of BACON there as a side. Can't go wrong with bacon... Ever. LOL.
wait....WAIT ONE MINUTE!....I need to know if you're serious! Bacon is it's own food group in our house...right along side oreos. ....oh god now I've gone and drooled all over the keyboard.

Woot! I have one chick out of the shell and the one who has been sitting there with the center all the way around cracked open is still sitting there that way chirping.

I despise AT&T... but it seems about my only option for internet out here. I MUST have internet as I work remotely from home... but this AT&T service is about as slow as they come next to dial up.

Always problems with them too. I suppose I could get FredomNet internet, but that is costly service. Apparently the U-verse with AT&T isn't available for us (last I checked). **Sigh** Maybe someday...

YES, 100% serious. If you go there and order eggs over easy with bacon & toast... You'll get your eggs over easy, but the bacon is a whole pound, and your toast will practically be loaves themselves. They serve their toast with homemade strawberry jam that is like pie filling and really good. Be prepared to take an army's worth of food home in a doggy bag.

This is a picture I took last fall when I went to Tony's with 2 of my friends (yes, there are eggs hiding under there as well). We ordered 1 breakfast, 1 extra egg & 1 extra toast and shared between all 3 of us, and STILL brought home a whole breakfast's worth in a box.

I've seen similar bedazzled individuals, needing a shave, wearing baggy pants that are so low they can reach the bottom of their pockets with their hands, standing slump
shouldered and talking to their friends about their inability to obtain a job. Are they truly surprised?

As we drove away, leaving the bizarre fisherman standing at the river, I looked over at my well groomed, hard working son and thought "Thank you Jesus".

'I had to laugh at the last line,...... Our 25 yr old grand son lives with us and as we were leaving a store one day last week I told him "Thank you Andy" he looked at me and said what for? I said for not looking like that young man next to you in the store, The matted hair look with lots of tattoo's and piercings,

I have to agree with both of your posts Opa, If I were looking to employ I would not hire.
200# is a lot of feed!!!,, you could make a feeder out of a metal pig pan (TSC) and a 5 gal. bucket. I think Nova has a pic of hers.

As a tattooed/gauged ear ring/piercing wearer myself and sister to an older brother who makes his living off of putting amazing art on human skin and also a sister to a younger brother who is a walking portfolio for the other brother, I need to post on this. I work in the heathcare field and have always kept tattoos/piercings where they are mostly hidden wearing everyday clothing and my ears are only gauged to an 8 and a 10. (not that big) I personally would never get a tattoo on my face, but if that's something someone wants I do not judge them. I also grew up in Ohio around bikers (yes, those bikers) and they are some of the roughest looking people you'll ever meet...but also some of the most wonderful and kindest. To me, wearing a piercing or having a tattoo is an expression of who you are. No different then the clothes you choose to wear or the way you wear your hair or do your make-up. I've met some pretty horrible people who dress in business suits, only problem with that is they give the appearance of someone who is well groomed and educated. Some of the smartest people I know are tattooed/pierced.
I guess what I'm trying to say is what they always say, don't judge a book by its cover. :)

Not trying to be judgmental just saying you can go to far, and not be employable in most areas of employment, Thant said my grand son and daughter have tattoos just not were then can be seen if they need to dress up
The felted hair look, Looks very unclean, ( I know that is not always the case,But....)

Thanks Maah, Now I REALLY want bacon. Where did you say that restaurant was?

Today is day 20 and 18 out of 42 eggs have hatched. I think that is pretty good since I had some high temps a few times. I can't get them to eat or drink (Or at least when I am about). Any tips? I have dipped their beaks in the water and food. I also had some food on some paper towel like suggested and showed it to them.

Tony's is in Birch Run.

If your chickie-doodles just hatched, they might just need a day before they start eating & drinking. You've dipped their beaks in water and showed them food. That's usually sufficient. They don't need food or water for the first couple days as they can survive off the absorbed yolk sack. One thing I've done is dip my finger in the water and then dip it in the ground feed and they always seemed to like to peck it off my fingertip as a first feeding. I wouldn't worry about your newbies too much right yet. Give them some time and just continue to show them the food & water.

There was a #12 on this... but it had a bit of shock factor. LOL.
