I heard that sand was good to use you can rake it to get the poop out. I am going to put it in all my coops that way I can clean them everyday. I seen it on The Chicken Chick blog I think thats were I read it, she made a big litter box scoop out of a pitchfork she attached hardwarecloth to it.
Uh ohs, caught! lol can't hide!
Oooh, boy. I knew I shouldn't check in on you guys in the Spring. I haven't been in to TSC, or seen any chickies, and I was totally not getting broody. yes you are
I do not need chicks. I do not need chicks. I do not need chicks. yes you do!
When is CS? June 22nd
What are you all planters planting right now? hopes!
And who has a chainsaw and works for free? ^_^; not me! Sorry!
Sawdust would not be good to use, right?I tried sand with the chicks this year, and it can be very dusty. So keep that in mind. It was great other wise, but it will be picked up in the poops so when you clean them out, you will slowly lose the sand with it.
I use paper for about the first 3-4 days, then use the premium fine wood shavings (don't use cedar chips, the oil in the cedar is not that good for them).
Great idea for the super sized scooper! LOL!
