Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Here it is still the middle of the night and I've been up for over an hour. Part of that time was spent seaching for my glasses. I'd fallen asleep and the recliner decided to eat them and was very reluctant to give them back. I turned the chair over several times, reached down inside several times with no luck. Looked other places in case I had taken them off and laid them down. All to no avail. Another probing between the cushions and the mechanism was final met with success. I'm sure glad I paid the extra money for titanium frames.

It really is sad about the loss of the goat kids just as they were about to enter this world. One of the harsh realities of animal husbandry is loss but it still is something that is easy to face.

I guess since sleep isn't going to return I might as well put the coffee on. I'd offer you a cup but you are all still asleep.

I am up & have been enjoying a fine brew of French Roast for several hours now...this waking up at 01:30/02:00 is for the birds.....just wish the sun were up so I could do something useful outside :)

I'm up with you. Since 3:30am now. Listening to the bullfrogs sing their song in the darkness. Doodle's first crow just sounded at 4:58am. I'm waiting for the morning light so that I can go out and get them fed for the morning before I head out for the day.
Good morning :)

Bigboy & Blackie just started crowing, too about 20 mins ago.

Guess I'll go out & let the out into their covered pen for now & let the the skeeters have their breakfast. I am staring to look like I have the measles.

I think she is playing a joke on you

chicken stock is in Lansing Mi
For anyone installing an electric fence, I would highly recommend a device called a Fence Alert. It hangs on the fence, and if the power goes out or the fence grounds out a red light starts blinking. I have one hung on the horse pasture fence where I can see it from the house, great for peace-of-mind.
thank you did you get it at TSC our order it on line?

Sam, my husband and I have played that game too with his glasses(very aggravating)

Well we DID get a tiny bit of rain last night. Enough to get the porch wet.

I've got chicks pipped in the basement this morning, so it's a good thing I'm fully engrossed in my current book. Hopefully it'll keep me from running down there to check on things every 15 minutes today! One of the chicks did pip at the wrong end, and I'm pretty sure the running advice will be to leave it alone, but I'm going to run a search to make sure there's nothing else I should do.

We have been getting rain here almost constantly the past 3 days. Hopefully it ends soon. Birds are all looking like wet rats because they would rather stand in the rain instead of going into a nice dry and clean coop.
