I used to have the ends of my dogs leads go right in the house under the door. Would put them on before I opened the door. Nothing like trying to chase a bird dog and a pit bull through the neighborhood. LOL. They were such good dogs though, no one was ever worried. Just me. I have a brit spaniel that I'd take with me to deliver papers. This was in the middle of the night, so when I'd get to the condos that I delivered, I'd take Beregond with me, and he got to enjoy a walk. Never a dull moment for him. He'd head straight for the duck ponds, never got any, but I ended up having the worst case of wet dog smell in my car from him... Baby on the other hand, he was not so fond of ponds. When we moved to this house, the neighbors had chickens, and if Baby would get loose, or one of their chickens was in the run, never had an incident. Even the wild turkeys would get in the dog run, and Baby couldn't give a rip about them either. Put a raccoon or a possum... He'd go bat sh.. LOL
Anyway, on to broody related news. Had a claw go through a developing egg today. Was a bummer, was a fav egg. The marans eggs ( i think) are good. BUT now Little Pretty and Beulah are sharing two eggs. LOL Really trying to limit the numbers this year. Beulah is a good mama... She's just chosen to brood with Little Pretty, and LP has been sitting on eggs for a week now. I am afraid that if I tried to give Beulah her own eggs next to LP, she'd abandon them when LP's start hatching. Can I move her to a different location? No... have the phoenix in the broody coop now, LP is in the grow out coop, The big coop is empty, but Beulah likes the grow out, and will keep going back to it, and no I can't lock her in the big coop, cuz then the other girls couldn't get in to lay, and Ekta is brooding in the garage and is being a demon. She's got 10 days to go.
I am thinking I might just have to build a nest box in the run itself just so I can keep the coops for broodies and babies.
