OMG! They are SO cute! Well, I liked you biology lesson. Always wondered why DH has said drop trees in late fall & start cutting into firewood March-ish (wonder if he knows the "biological" reason ) I know one of COD's headline stories yesterday was the swine case. Haven't been to the site yet this morn to see if they have updated ....

yes - that will help to replenish some firewood for our woodburner

Is that branch still hinged in the tree? Be careful getting it down if it is. Standing on a ladder with a chainsaw is never a good thing. I've had a few massive cherries and willows do that - no fun. Now I just hook the tractor up and pull them off, then clean up the scab with a saw. Good luck.

After several weeks of quarantine, 1st intro of Maia & Lela (FBCMs) to current flock (pic taken after they had been out for 45 min).

Wish I could post video, but feel lucky enough to get a pic to post. 99% of the time it doesn't seem to work for me......very weird (usually I only get the option to post a "URL" vs "choose from existing". And I have tried using 4 diff browsers, iPad, iPhone, & desktop...)

the limb looks to be be still semi-attached to the tree, so ill prob wont start cutting til next friday (my next/only day off work next week).
the baby chicks are cute little fuzzies - its easy to forget that ours were that size not very long ago

In the same vein as policing up the debris from fallen or broken trees, don't forget that may varieties of apple trees are self thinning, you should rake up the fallen apples to prevent disease.
