Hi all.

Hope everyone is doing okay. Things are crazy here as per usual. Does such a thing as "caught up" actually exist!?

I've got a chickenwire fence to get up with a quickness, had an angry call from the neighbors to the south yesterday. She was... super nice about it. Wait, no, she was really rude and I was really irritated because I went out of my way to get ahold of her last year when I noticed the chickens starting to wander into the woods that separate our houses. No, the rooster didn't bother her, no, she didn't even know we had chickens. I asked her to please let me know if there were ever any issues. Well, apparently she waited until she was good and ****** off about them "constantly" (totally not true) in their yard, messing things up, and the rooster never stopping crowing.

Wish she'd called me when it started to be an issue.


I also had either the rooster or something else get ahold of one of my hens yesterday. I'm going to head out to pick something up relatively soon, but if anyone has any thoughts on it, I would appreciate your input. Hen's Head / Neck Torn Up

uchytil - Yes! One of the first things I noticed when I hopped back on was a mention of CS, and I was immediately bummed out that I missed it.

Although, in truth, I probably wouldn't have been able to make it this year, anyway. So far the summer has been filled with shitty things. Hopefully it gets better from here. I've missed you guys! I just have a hard time finding the time for forums, hehe. Totally guilty, though, most days I do get at least a little time after the kids are in bed for the computer, but I use it for video games.

I'll take some time out to check in more often, though.

Haven't you got more space around here without my periodic novels? Lol


Nova! I didn't realize you didn't have my number anymore, oops! I'm pm you. Maybe we can get together and run in the sprinkler this week. ^_^ You so do not need to help me with the fence, man, it is right through the woods and underbrush, too. I am not sure how to do it best yet. But maybe you could stand by with the jug of iced tea and dump some on my head every few minutes and shout some support at me, haha. And thanks for getting back to me. I just paper toweled the entry for her, and she is up and about and perky even though I swear I can see her brain pulsing in one spot. Okay, obviously it can't be her actual brain exposed, but uch. I got the wonder dust on her, but I don't know how you're supposed to keep it out of their eyes or noses while doing it. Did my best, though. Pretty chickens!

Hope no one melted today! Good gracious it's hot out!

I was a very, very naughty girl this morning.

I have a dozen chicks that should be here tomorrow or Wednesday morning.

I know it's REALLY hot to be shipping, and that I probably shouldn't have (OK. who am I kidding? I should not have done it) ordered when it is so hot out but they had EVERYTHING I WANTED AVAILABLE!

As a result of my purchases, I found a home at my cousin's farm for 5 birds, and once I get rid of all of the extra cockerels, I *think* I should have enough coop space for everyone for the winter. So think cool refreshing thoughts for my little birdies, and cross your crossables with me that I don't lose most of them in-transit.

My tomato plants are putting on fruit like nobody's business right now. I'll be covered up in 'maters next month. I'm already planning on how to lay the garden out differently next year so I don't have a solid block of tomato plants like I do right now ever again.

While at the Baker trial on Friday, I gave 2 on-camera interviews. Then a foodie blogger picked up on my story. The way people's rights are being trampled on is gaining publicity at the grassroots level and spreading.

One is for the butterfly garden in the front yard. It cites ordinance 94.14 STREET OPENINGS.

The other is a second ticket for "poultry" which I think is just a second ticket for the original charge. Double jeopardy anyone? To be fair, I was ordered to comply with ALL ORDINANCES of the city. On the other hand, no time frame was given or specific directions to actually get rid of the chickens.

No idea on the third ticket. Unless getting a ticket is grounds for getting a ticket...

I have been getting SOOOO ticked off at my cherry tomato plant that is under a foot tall, despite my cutting off all the lower branches to promote upward growth. I looked more closely at the card today and it says Height: 9". Geez! The thing looks ridiculous with branches sprawling out several feet and only 9 or so inches off the ground. I wonder if it is too late to find another plant?
