Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

My, how time flies. It seems like only last week that I got the butterfly garden ticket and now today I'm off to my arraignment. I wonder if these new and old charges are criminal in scope. Guess I'll find out shortly.

Is this butterfly garden in your front yard ? How interesting, what is your story. ?

This should be a made-for-television movie. Three new charges today will be added to two other charges that have not been adjudicated. New court date at the end of August to face the criminal offenses of: 1)chipped paint; 2) bricks stolen from front porch; 3) butterfly gardening in the front yard; 4) having or NOT having or POTENTIALLY having chickens on the property and 5) probation violation for having tickets that have not gone through the legal system yet.

The ordinance officer said that although he saw no chickens there "might" be chickens. So he wrote a chicken ticket.
[rule]Every case in court today was a BS ordinance violation of some sort.  Gotta love it.

Raz, that is harrassment, and you need an attorney.

Woah.  I mean, you also may have had a hippo.  Did he write a ticket for that, too?

I'm very sorry.  And angry.  This is a terrible use of GC taxpayer money, and a sad tale of "justice."

Or file charges against the OO for rape... after all, he has the equipment, the potential is there, who can say it hasn't happened. How well would that go over? Plus, it sounds like time to take this to a higher court, too. Force it out of that jurisdiction. Change of venue due to proven history of idiocy... I mean inability to have an impartial hearing.

I was gonna say Good Luck, RaZ, but you're already back from court.

Think I'll be keeping him.

Raining here. I was gonna whip my flower garden into shape. Guess it will have to wait for another day.

Went camping in Oscoda. Days were nice. Rained every night. Still had lots of fun.

Ok, I'm going to sound dumb here... but,

What is criminal about butterfly gardening? Isn't that just a flower bed / flower garden?

Or was he breeding in enclosed butterfly houses in front yard, or what?

I'm trying to picture this and I just can't... criminal flower beds... I don't understand. You'd think the city would welcome the flowers & landscaping. Someone please explain this one to me.

According to the judge, ALL ordinance violations are criminal in nature under the "police powers" of the city.

That kind of defies the legal definition of a criminal act which requires that "harm" be caused to another person. Also defies logic considering that the OO is not a police officer and Constitutional Rights are bypassed.

The sad thing is that this could happen to any one of us. I've drawn the attention (wrath) when I went public with the bully tactics of city employees.

Consider it as a cautionary tale. Or a very bad comedy.
