anyone in the kalamazoo area want 3 bantams, 2 hens and a roo? i don't know the breeds and i've never actually seen them, but apparently i know of someone who wants to get rid of them before winter and my DH said no

. since i don't know what i'd do with them, i can't really complain, but i promised i would ask around to see if anyone is interested, so i am. i will try to get more info one them.

I am making another gallon of hummingbird feed. So now, just for August, I have used 20 cups of sugar. Altogether I have used 60 cups this summer.

couldn't get the photo to come up but......do not let him breed, it is a genetic defect and you youldn't want to pass that on. .....That said I have a 4yr old cross hen that does very well, given enough time she can even pick up a worm. My cross has a very bad cross beak and uses her toung to get food and water, you will need a deep dish of feed as they tend to need to get their head down in the dish and I am not sure if she uses the nipple waterer succsessfully so I try to have a pan of water out as well, yours being so weak and blind may be a problem

I can't believe how cold it is this morning. I had to put on two sweatshirts and jeans this morning just to go out and let the girls outside. It's August for crying out loud! Where did our summer go? We only got maybe two weeks of summer this year.

I'm just hoping that it warms up before we go to the Allegan County fair in September.

I can't believe how cold it is this morning. I had to put on two sweatshirts and jeans this morning just to go out and let the girls outside. It's August for crying out loud! Where did our summer go? We only got maybe two weeks of summer this year.

It seems like I've been wearing jeans all summer. I guess I got used to the heat the last two summers.

Yes, they are. They started about 3 weeks earlier than normal. Yesterday there were more than ever. I had to fill one of the big feeders twice. We only have 7 big feeders out. If you get a chance to come out this way, then come on over and sit a spell. We like to share.
