Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I was out in the pasture last night taking some pictures before the girls went to bed. Here's my wheaten marans pullets, just about at POL but still waiting for those chocolate eggs.
Ladyr- yours is waaaay ahead of mine from the same hatch. My marans look like it'll be at least another month - not even pink combs. A couple of my backyard crosses that hatched with them are giving me an egg every day - but I'm so anxious to see those dark brown ones! One of my crosses is a RIR/BO that looks like a big fluffy orpington but is a beautiful shade of red - she hasn't missed giving me a little round egg each day since she started a couple weeks ago.

Lol, that's what I hear. Expect it wwont be a great producer of eggs, but hopefully will make my oldest happy. She is a great and most helpful child so I figure I should do this for her.

The St. Ignace marina this morning

Nice photo... I'll be up there walking the bridge with my dad over labor day.

Sam, your friend could will all his money and possessions to a charity or someone else if he wants too... it's his money. That has to be frustrating to your friend.

Lost power at the nursing home I work at last night. A severe storm rolled in right after supper. It was a mad scramble for flashlights so we could get residents safe. The kicker was that the backup generator is supposed to kick in immediately. It took a half an hour for it to come to life! So that was a half an hour in the dark, running for oxygen tanks since oxygen concentrators need electricity. The generator eventually came online. Though the only outlets powered were in hallways. So the folks on oxygen had their beds moved into the hallways for the night, as the tanks only last so long.

By the time my shift ended, the power had no yet been restored. I'd never seen the town so dark! The night shift probably had a stressful night, too. Without the air conditioning, the building was getting so hot and stuffy! Fans can only move around so much air...

May want to get that transfer switch looked at!

When I first retired gas was $1.15 per gallon and everything else has increased in price accordingly.

It really is sad to see someones family not have any genuine feelings for their relative and their involvement in that person's life is only motivated by greed.
Fun little calculator for comparing what it cost then compared to the price today. http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/

Embarrassment is a genuine feeling and apparently a reason to walk away from one's family.

What? No rain?? Weatherman and The Weather Channel said we were to get rain! Now I'm going to have to water. I was looking forward to a night time rainfall.

Sick chicks, everywhere.

Krisrose has a sick turkey chick. I have a sick chick, maybe two, if I can catch one and check her out. Still can out run me. I hate sick chicks. Don't know what to do and feel so helpless. They're so sweet and don't like to see em not feeling well.

Have a good day, all

My old farmer friend was wanting to give me the money to purchase a large motor for my boat or buy an entirely different boat. I briefly thought about allowing him to do so but decided instead that I would rather take him to lunch one day next week instead. I would hate for anyone to think I was taking advantage of an old man in spite of his insistence that he wanted to do it.
