Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I went out to let my chickens roam and clean the poop tray, which I do every morning. One of the stools was brown and runny with part of it containing bright red blood. I have had some stools with lil streaks of old looking blood in them, but not quite like this. I only have 6 hens and 1 roo, all between 5 mos and 1 yr. I checked them out and they are all runnin around and chasing bugs like normal. Any cause for concern or anything I should watch for? I've had them about 3mos w/no issues, but I am still a newbie and love this thread for reading and help. Thanks for ur help

if it continues, then I'd be concerned. I had a similar experience this spring with meat birds and was kind of freaking out since I was terrified of coccidia and losing my entire bunch of meaties, but it was just poop. I think that when it looks like it has a little bit of streaky blood they call it cecal poop or something like that....basically it's when they shed part of the lining in their intestines....and is completely normal. if it gets worse, then worry.

on the chicken-front, BIL is getting out of chickens. That means that I just got the 6 chicks that hatched 2 weeks ago. 4 black orpingtons (looks like maybe with some gold leakage around their heads? hard to tell at this point) and 2 araucanas. One is tailed and looks like maybe it has tufts and the other is tail-less and looks to be clean-faced. Ay yi yi! I don't know where I'm going to put these little guys!

PRICELESS.... Office probably wondered WHAT the heck I was laughing so hard about in my office! Needed some humor...things are pretty gloomy around here...as most of us are pretty sure we are gonna NOT be staying at work very long tomorrow .. unless by SOME miracle our leaders (& I use that term loosely) in Washington get something done by midnight tonight... Of course, that just means I can be in my NEW blind early tomorrow for opening day of bow season!!! WOOHOO!!

The appointment for that specialist isn't until the end of the month. Losing strength in one hand sure presents more problems than you might think. Yesterday while carrying a hot platter with four slabs of ribs to the table the pain in my thumb was tremendous. Just as I got to the table my wrist gave out and I came very close to dropping our dinner on the floor.
hope they can fix you up that sounds painful and dangerous

THAT is one funny video ! Thanks.

My Delawares went to a new home yesterday, and it will be a good one. She is going to be looking for a rooster in late winter or spring, so post here if you know of any.

Life goes on, and its good.
I have a very handsome spanish bisque delaware mix if intereste.

Trying to keep an optimistic outlook on another VERY sad time to be a Fed...first furloughs thru the summer, now this (of course, we have been dealing with this threat every few months for the last couple of years..but never has it been quite as imminent as it does today...)

I'm finally getting green eggs from the ameraucana/brahma cross chicks I hatched out this spring!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good (but not too expensive) coop cam? I would like to figure out who is laying what color egg . . . or who is laying period! I have a really good internet connection (cable) and would probably prefer wireless.

found this today--about what you were looking for? 720p surveillance camera, night vision, wireless, $39.99. I ordered something 2 months ago from this site, shipping not too prompt but item was right.
