Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Good Morning, all!

Isn't CrAzY ChIcKeN RaNcH in Capac also?   Even tho I haven't seen her on FB lately.  Might be a good place to get chicks, Clucks.

Shhh... the sun is out!   Gonna pretend I don't notice so it'll stay out.

Have a good day...

Yes, I typically run most any fruit or veggie through the food mill at least twice after cooking with the peels on, to get as much useable food into the finished product as possible.

Oh, that's so sad! They really worked hard on their breeds. Hope they catch the idiots and they get their due. I couldn't even get them up on FB. Too sad.

Welcome Cluckn!

I picked up a apple peeler at bed bath and beyond. It worked on an apple and potato (hash browns!) but, I so wanted to get this one...I popped into a local antique store to see if I could find one. I love these older kitchen items.. they seem so much better built, and it just looks cool! https://www.lehmans.com/p-13-lehmans-own-reading-78-apple-peeler.asp

NICE APPLE PEELER, might watch for one at auctions
Hey Bob, glad to hear from you, I was just wondering how you were and here you are

that is sad

you need to have your supports close enough to hold the weight, the heavy wet first snows are the worst,

if your supports are 3or4 ft. squares or rectangles you should be OK, We added extra supports before last winter I think the supports are about 4'x6' seemes to hold pretty good, I go out and knock the snow off
having an A frame would be best the netting stretchs almost to the ground if not supported well we had some broken frame work the first yr area between supports was 8x8 I think,

good luck hope you don't have to remove it

It supposedly depends also on whether its knotted or the other kind, knotted is supposed to be better for snow areas. If you knock it down it won't accumulate but be careful because as snowflake says it stretches and you don't want to suffocate your birds under an avalanche of snow.

Hey Bob! Nice to hear from you! Glad you're getting some fishing in.. I love to fish, but I'm so busy with everything else around home I never get to go. I do reserve 1 week a yr to go deer hunting and the weekends there after till January. Nothing is allowed to interfere with deer season! It's the only time I get to just chill out in the great outdoors... a litte much needed soul cleansing!

Yes, heavy wet snow./ freezing rain will weigh down the netting. I'm going to be putting a 4x4 under some heavy piping we used to support the netting on the bigger run, the small one, I may end up putting a tarp over the run as they are pretty exposed to the weather. Just got back from a long lunch picking up the lumber for the runs and DH ordered some sand to be delivered. 3 yrds for 75$..(I just hope it works!).

I guess we remove the apple skin to make it look better? Do the skins show up in your sauce etc? IDK!
