the quilting was nice too, should do something like that myself,

For my neighbors sake, I don't have the lights come on until 6:30 am. I prefer the light on later in the day. We need to see what's going on when we feed them. It also gets them outside a bit longer on warmer days. I have a crabby neighbor that complained the roosters crow on the weekend. I had a talk with the boys, but they didn't listen to me.

we have a lot of roosters right now, 4 need to be gone, maybe 5. that will leave me with 4, DH was complaining the other day cause they made so much noise he couldn't hear if any deer were moving

@bobbry

Beautiful Points on the quilt! Those are not easy!!! I am impressed! Is that all hand quilting? If so, I am Doubly Impressed!

@ladyrsanti

Your resourcefulness is amazing indeed. The Force is strong within you. :)

This morning was cold and still, and as the sun's rays stuck the tree branches, every thing starting to sparkle. A slight breeze came up and with it the hoarfrost on the branches started falling and the woods turned into a place of wonder. Mornings like that make you glad just to be alive.

I watched 8 deer that were 150 to 200 yards off and on a path that would take them on to our property. Unfortunately another person woke to the fact that they had walked past his blind without his seeing them until that were at least 175 yards from him. Sadly, he decided to shoot and that turned the deer into another property. As irritated as I was about his taking such a long and improbable shot, I was more upset with the fact that since no deer fell, he never checked to see if he had drawn blood.

My son David was sitting in the blind with me and after witnessing the less then admirable incident, he remarked that one of the first things I taught him was to always assume that you have hit the deer until after thorough investigation proofs otherwise.

Absolutely true. The blood trail from the doe I shot was horrible to say the least, despite the hit being good. If we hadn't had snow to follow tracks and the occasional speck of blood, I would have had to resort to walking a grid the following morning. The shots some hunters take baffle me. I will never understand neck shots, and a lot of angles people try for during archery season. What irritates me even more is people who shot for "if it's brown it's down". This was especially troubling for me this year since we have antler point restrictions in a 14 county area and when dh picked his deer up from the processor they had a LOT of bucks in that weren't legal if shot within a 90min drive.

In other news, our rescue does a "pet pics with Santa" and a local 4-h person brought a chicken in to get her picture taken....complete with dress and painted nails. Wish is been there to see it rather than getting to hear about it tonight.

I used to travel the road from mesik to manton too, Bobry ! I miss it up there. I stayed in a campground in mesick and worked up at traverse city, best summer ever i think. I didn't get the migrains at all, even when i was stressed! The air is literally so much cleaner.
