Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

My son measured almost 18" of snow! Only a few chickens would even consider checking out the snow. My DH has snow blowed 3 times. Not looking forward to the beyond bitter cold at all.

I know we are by Lake Huron and have 10 inches so far......our son got stuck twice (he had to work) . My girls would not come out of the run. I am going to pack more snow up the sides to create an igloo effect and add more straw.......and pray they endure

I have my d'uccle pairs housed in large dog kennels for the winter. Only downside is that they don't allow for bedding with the wide bars; i ended up having to use cardboard. They shred the news paper and eat it!

When i can i let them out into the kitchen to stretch.

Good morning, everyone...
Well, at least I don't even have to telework today as they shut the arsenal down. Think I will be getting my snowmobile attire out today for outdoor chores .... Haven't seen the "official" snowfall amount, but COD said "places like Jackson & Howell " got 16".

Once the wind kicks in today I don't think there is gonna be anyway for us to keep up with the drifting. Think we are gonna have to ask our farmer neighbor to come by a few times with his tractor to help with driveway...

Please be careful out there, all....

I'm almost afraid to look outside to see just how much snow has fallen since I last cleared the drives. My neighbor came over last night with his 4 wheeler and plowed out the front drive but as hard as it was snowing less than an hour later another inch had fallen. I'm sitting here drinking coffee and debating whether to look or not. I know just what I will be doing once the sun is up.

I just dug out all my snowmobile gear, warmest garb I have...1 more cup of coffee & I'm gonna turn lights on, head out & get a start on RE-CLEARING the path to coop. Winds haven't kicked up too bad yet & temp is still above 0, but I've watched it drop 4 degrees in last 2 hours...so this is about the warmest it's gonna be today

I decided to skip that cup of coffee. And am I glad I did. Just spent 45 mins clearing path & just as I was done letting birds in pen & hooking up heated waterer, the wind started. It looks like a blizzard out there right now. Ok. Off to get snow off pen. I am gonna be waist deep in snow trying to get to it.

And the walkway I just shoveled. Already recovered with a few inches of snow...geesh. I HATE winter.

It appears that we got at least 12 inches here. Hubby plowed 3 times yesterday and made the kids two HUGE snow hills to play on. Of course, an hour after plowing it was filled right back in again darn it! He'll be out plowing us, the neighbors and some friends of our again today on his way in to work this afternoon. ICK! I hate winter!!! But the snow sure if pretty AND it got me out of work today!!! Didn't want a 2 1/2 hour scary ride in so I called a snow day for me too

Although I do hate using the blessed vacation time for icky wintery snow days I'd rather not end up in a ditch!

I hope everyone stays safe and tries to enjoy the snow if they have to go out today.
