Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I just got an order of Pecans in from Hickabilly Housewife, she has them listed in the BST section. The pecans I got this year from the store were awful - shriveled and bitter (as well as expensive). These ones are heavenly, plump and sweet. We got 7# to split with some friends (she can get 7# into a prepaid box) and I am ordering 7# more to put in the freezer.

Mmmm. When I lived in Georgia, there were pecan trees living my street and in the park. We'd go out to the yard to pick a bowl full off of the ground. I really miss that. I see there's a variety that's supposed to be cold hardy. Does anyone here have any experience with that?

I'm looking for some maran hens...oh I see, you are selling the eggs. I do hope there are some Welsummers at TSC :)

ASk at your for them to order some, i talked with the girl who manages the store in BR and she said that they were supposed to be able to order some extra breeds, and i mentioned that Townline has welsummers now and she said yeah i saw that and said she was going to try and get them in, they are easy to sex as well so look it up before you go and you can know what your getting. anyway i have talked to a couple of the tsc stores around here and they all think they might get them, also i havent talked to the ffh stores but the ffh stores often get in some of the other breeds like that and with them coming from townline, i really should not go into any of those stores from about feb 14th through April. i mean i dont know how it happens but them little peeps always end up in my truck with me, speccially when i get them on sale. last year i got 40 meaties for 50 cents a bird and they were like 2 weeks old already i mean 1/4 of the growing i didnt have to pay for the feed.

Ha! I've been getting from FF and they had yellow EE chicks last year - I grabbed two and they turned out beautifully. The people at FF know I want all the yellow EE chicks that are coming in this year (unless they get 20 or something). I'm in there almost weekly (I have horses, too, and buy my catfood there) so they know my face. Will have to give them a list and have them hold for me - they start chick days on the 22nd of February....

I finally have caught up with reading the posts and have time to post! Yeah! Welcome to BYC to all the newbies! And to The Michigan thread!
Sorry for any losses or troubles any one has had. Lots of great animal pics! Love the sheep and goats! Wish I could get a few.

@taprock Posey looks like she's coming along! Slowly but surely, hope she continues to improve!

Yes PPPPlllllleeeeaaaassssseeeee!

We got 8-10", hard to tell exactly, so much drifting this time in our yard. Still drifting. DSO took the snowblower out, cleared the driveway on top of the ice. By the time he was done the first part had started to drift over already, so he did that part again. An hour later he decided it was futile.
We can't really see much else from our place. A field behind us, but that all drifted too! Trees etc. It is pretty though. But now comes the nasty Artic temps again!!!!

Looking out towards the back from the driveway. The two little hills are ours, Can't see the field unless I go up the drifted hills onto the garden. Not happening today! But I could see white clouds going away and some blue sky!

Why specifically the yellow ones? School me, please.
I got a beautiful buff hen with muffs and beard, and a beautiful white hen :) Just for color variety - I have six of the "partridge" hens already. I really want a blue/gray but don't know if they'll get odd colors inl

I received a shipment of Black Australops from Townline Hatchery on Tuesday. They arrived quickly and very lively. All are doing well. If anyone is interested, I need to sell 15 of them ( all are females ). $2.50/chick. Please PM me if interested. I live in the Haslett/Williamston, MI area. Stay warm!
