Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

My turkey eggs, if they don't sit, I pull them after a couple weeks and sell them to Gail.
Thank you Wendy!!!! If anyone else had turkey duds I'll buy them!!

I cut a limb off of the golden willow so I'll sprout some branches for CS if anyone wants some.
Is that like a pussy willow, RaZ??? I'm looking for pussy willows....

Hey Gail, we're still on for Monday (IF I can get out of reporting for Jury duty)...I won't know till Tomorrow or Sunday night. I'll text you. ... I am not sure about turkey eggs yet. They have a clutch of 8 right now. I'll give em a few more days to see if someone sits.

The eggs my little silky started brooding, who died in the nest box with the other two hens, I checked them tonight. 5 eggs were fresh, 3 were rotten (PU!) and 3 were still developing...in addition, 1 pipped and 2 more are chirping but not pipped. I imagine there will be 3 chicks hatched this weekend (one tomorrow). I am debating to pull them temporarily or leave the chicks, I'm not sure, since there are others still developing.

my poor DH... is in CA for business... he said he got out of the car and was in line with his German co workers to get a drink at a bar and some dude came up behind him and cold cocked him in the jaw.. zero reason. DH said not to worry, he cleaned up the side walk with him...glad he's ok and didn't get hauled off by the police.... can't say the same for the other guy. Bar tender said he was probably on meth. I told him to watch his back.. people are crazy these days.

time for bed!

@ladyrsanti Your chicks are adorable! Even the the runt and the roo!

@SillyChicken I am so glad your DH is OK and could fend for himself! He was lucky the other guy didn't use any weapons other than his fists!

@RaZ Your tree is so cool! love the upright version!

I have decided to paint the inside of my new brooder before putting the newest batch of chicks in it. The wood soaked up to much water when I scrubbed it. Since I have another batch of chicks coming I want to be able to clean it more easily and quicker!

I hope everyone is enjoying the long awaited spring and are able to get everything done they need to!

Been a busy few weeks for me! New job, new and ever changing hours....so exhausted. Good news is it was totally worth it and i plan on staying there for as long as i can. :) Never worked any factory job that cared so much about their employees. Got a promotion already too- Since they are only a year old and expansion is underway there is much room for growth pretty much everywhere! :D A risk with the newness but with the quality treatment...
They are still hiring probably for 3rd. Any questions pm me.

My feathered kids are doing great. From holland's forcast (coopersville gets holland's weather) raz's wish for snow just might come our way. Thanks raz, i have no words to express my gratitude. Literally ;) so it looks like i need to put some straw back down in thecoop.

@fuzzybutt love Glad your new job is going so well!. Jobs like that are hard to come by these days. There are so many corporations that care more about the bottom line than the employees. What they don't realize is that happy, well treated employees make a better bottom line. The companies that get that point usually are very successful.

Last night my son and I are sitting at the table and DH comes in. He glances out the back yells "coyote" and goes running. My son and I just chuckle, it was a Bald Eagle with it's head down eating. We have been seeing this particular Eagle lately and it makes all the others look small in comparison. He has to be big to be mistaken for a coyote.

Today I only have to work a half day.

Which means I should have a nice afternoon to work with the chickens. I have to clean up someone to go to Beaks 'N Books tomorrow. I have boys signed up to read so I'm thinking they will want a rooster. Buzz who is great at it has bluekote on his head from a scuffle, BB who is great is still suffering from frostbite on a couple spots. Stevie who is also great, was on the receiving end of bullying and is scabbed up. What is it about roosters and spring? While checking over birds yesterday I found two, thankfully only two, with mites. So they are on the bath list and then I will treat them. I do NOT want to have mites spread to all the birds.

Tonight we get to candle eggs and see what is developing. Just a bit nervous since you just never know with shipped eggs.
