Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

This is a tree form. New growth is very yellow-gold in colour.
Raz - my DH and I have been looking forever for willow! We want to line the back of our property by the creek with some. Will you please put me on your list?? Can you pm me with the details? This will make DH actually WANT to take me to CS! Hahahaha, bribery!!! LOVE IT

Good morning all..
I'm 2 days & 100 posts behind...I'll get to those later...
Totally non-chicken related, BUT...
I am sure many of you have read about the latest internet bug "Heartbleed". This one must be a doozy as we just got an email from our lead IT guy at work recommending we IMMEDIATELY change passwords for certain sites (some include etsy, yahoo mail, Gmail, Facebook, Pinterest, & many others).

The following link shows what thus far has been compromised; from social networking to retailers to banks...

And info on the bug:

Well, just scanned thru the 100 posts...

:welcome. To everyone new!

@Stacykins so sorry about Yoko & her babies. You know how much I love baby goats...

Sorry about all the other losses & ailments, too..

Congrats on all the births, new chicks :D

I think RaZ summed up the joys & sadness of life's cycle in his post a few pages back.

I am now virtually positive that Maia (BCM) has gone broody. Not sure what to do yet. Do I let her try & hatch..since my Rooster is an EE, the Marans eggs would give me OEs; the EE, EEs.
Just not sure about the whole new baby thing; plus I don't really have a place to separate her...& don't really know all the "stuff" I should do if I decide to let her try & be a mama....

Oy....

Careful about burning stuff. This looked like a brush fire from my vantage point though I won't know until it either makes the news or I drive down there after the gawkers and fire trucks leave (just around the corner from my house). There's a thick layer of dead plant material on the ground that is bone dry right now and a steady breeze. You can't really see it in the photo but there's an old barn just left of center that appears to have survived, thankfully. The fire, I think is behind it and moving away from it to the east.

Well it seems as though we may have another chicken with a lot of personality! One of the welsummer chicks will run up to us in the brooder everytime we go down into the basement! The other 5 freak out and hide in the corner but this one just wants to know what's going on! She's not even scared of the toddler!

Is anyone else's roosters being a bit harder on the hens than usual since it warmed up? I'm seeing more bald spots on backs of heads and at the base of girls' tails this week. Is it a hormonal thing or is my 18mo old boy (who has never ever ever been aggressive to people) trying to get a one way ticket to freezer camp?
