Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I had a young hawk INSIDE my run last week. It was sitting on the roost watching the coop door. As I ran to look inside the coop, it started crashing into the sides of the run. It eventually found the doorway & took off. My young pullets were all huddled together inside the coop, while the older hens were hiding nearby in a wood pile. It took several hours for the pullets to get the courage to exit the coop. I was hoping the experience would have scared the hawk silly, but it still flies by every few days. At least the chickens never openly walk in the grass. Just run from tree to tree.

I found some pretty little jewels today that might give some of the older (but so much wiser) members here some terrible flashbacks! Think when you were a kid and got a scraped knee...what might've your mother use? Merthiolate!

How do you think she kept me alive? When I was a young boy we were outside from sun -up to sun-down. What didn't kill you made you stronger, ha ha!

..and WHY is this a jewel....other than the pretty color??

So, How is Raz doing? Meet the goal yet? Maybe we should think about a bonfire/camp/octoberfest, eh?
I'm close. The fund raiser sent a payment last Monday but "there was a problem". They tried again on Friday and Saturday.
As of today the status is "pending".

Hopefully it goes through soon so I can get this ordeal done with.

A big thank you to every one who has helped.

Mostly because I think the tiny vials are quite pretty. Though I am going to bring them to my chemistry professor at the college for proper disposal as do contain quite a bit of mercury. It is just rather nifty seeing something like merthiolate that used to be so commonly used. I once found a dried up bottle of mercurochrome in an antique shop, I know that also burned many cuts and scrapes on kids, too, before it was banned.
