Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

So sorry, RaZ. It's so hard when our old friends leave us.

I had enough money left over from last years collection to pay for the pavillion for this year! So, no worries, folks!

Losing a old friend is always difficult. Once you have become used to having them in your life their absence is sorely felt. I still find my self occasionally taking a piece of meat and reaching below my chair to feed Daisy and she has been gone for several months. Raz, while you can never replace a dog, you are young enough that you can start filling the void with another.

There is no other species of animal that comes in as many varieties as dogs. Nor has any other adapted to fit our needs and wants as fully as dogs have. They herd our cattle, shepherd our sheep, guard our property, protect our families, search for the lost, help us hunt, be our friend, and seemly want nothing more than to please use.

No other animal has ever been as selectively breed to meet our personal preferences and needs. In the 1850's there was about 40 recognized breeds. Today there are over 400 breeds of dogs. Pretty much a dog to fit everyone.

Very nicely said Opa :)

Thanks for the kind words.

Majick was probably the best dog I ever had. At 15 his back legs/hips were failing. I knew it was just a matter of time. We were at the vet on Saturday but last night was rough. Even the girl dogs were hovering and whimpering. They always know, don't they?
