Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I apologize if you end up with multiple copies of this post. Three times it has said it was submitted but then it disappears so....

Yesterday we drove to Milwaukee and back. A very long day. However, on the way back I talked DH into stopping for a pair of call ducks.

700

DH says I can't go anywhere without finding more birds.

Also if anyone is interested I have two pair of Siver Penciled Rocks that I have decided not to keep. They came from eggs from a breeder out east. If interested pm me.

What do you do about keeping them from getting bored in the winter?
Ear corn gives them something to work at, while still getting a treat. I've also got some sunflower heads drying out that I'm planning on tossing in for them to go thru as well.

Cracked and turn the heat on in the house today. But in my defense, we're all sick with some bug and are all miserable under blankets.

I broke down too and turned on the heat yesterday.....just the living room zone tho, nice to have different zone control.

Daughter was planning a 3 week trip to visit many people, including me of course and to help me build a deck.
Her truck broke down 20 minutes into start of trip. Am majorly bummed out, for her trials as well as my loss of our annual visit. I can figure out how to build the deck myself but you never stop worrying about your children no matter their age, it can be heart wrenching.

Chickens are all good, pullets are cranking out the eggs.
Interesting to see that some of the older birds are molting despite supplemental lighting.
About time to take down the shade cloth, close down a few windows,
administer fall treatments and change out the coop bedding.

I agree with the rest no heat and lots of ventilation. I have a covered are and keep the food and water outside. mix BOSS and extra oats with scratch and toss a can to them in late afternoon. mine wont go out in the snow so they stay in the run once it starts to snow. I use a cookie tin heater under a plastic water as well as a large heated waterer. Just keep the inside f the coop dry, they will be fine

haven't turned he heat on yet but we did have a fire in the fire place a couple times

Turned the heat on a ouple days ago it was cold in here. First house we've had with no fireplace. I also have some kind of bug. Slept the whole day yesterday. And went to bed tired. Hubby is working on the new coop. Need to get my girls home! Very soon, I hope!

Hope it wasn't the snot makers I got. Nose is pretty raw right now.

Did feel a lot better today. even went pumpkin shopping and made a TSC run with the girlfriend.

More stuffy and hacking cough! Feeling better but still have coughing attacks now and then. Gloomy weather. But, not as cold today. Good enough to work on the coop! Have a good day, all
