Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I have met lots of nice folks thru this site and when they disappear their absence is felt. Always sad to lose touch with folks with like interests.

Hi Opa

hi, Opa, catch any fish in your new boat?

Raz, glad they had a mouse to entertain the hawk, hawks have been checking our yard out to, so far have not taken any chickens.

I got a deer last week and DH threw the carcass out back, hope that keeps them happy. actually I don't hunt, the darn buck jumped right in front of me and totaled out my poor car. First buck I ever got. we did get some meat for the freezer though so that was good

DH just built a fire in the fire place. this cold rainy weather gets old read fast.

Happy Halloween every one, hope all the little ones have lots of fun!!!

Life is wonderful and yet we never know what awaits us when a new morning breaks. However, just the fact that we have awoke on this new day is reason enough to be thankful. I'm not sure when I will be fishing again since last Saturday started with the discovery that I had suffered a stroke. I am fortunate that it hasn't affected me mentally but the issues with the right side of my body are going to take some life style modifications.

Today I have a doctor's appointment to check out my left elbow. An elective surgery to remove a benign bursae that would have eventually reabsorbed turned into a two battle. First a MRSA infection that required another surgery followed by a PICC line for 8 weeks of exteme antibiotic therapy. Then when it refused to heal they decided in January that I needed another surgery for ostiomylitis. Again with a 12 weeks round of antibotics and another PICC line.

Then as the 2 year anniversary of the first surgery approached the elbow once again started hurting. I had scheduled doctor appointment to try to find out what was going on. However, before that could occur I suffered a TIA that has left the right side of my body extremely numb. How long this will last only God knows. Typically it resolved in one to two days, but mine hasn't started to abate. I can't help but wonder if this isn't related.

While this is real life changer, the outpouring of concern and support from family and friends only makes me more aware of how rich my life has been. As I always tell people there a no bad days only bad attitudes. While this latest chapter of life isn't what I had envisioned it is one that I will happily face.

I also miss seeing some of the oldies. I was doing chicken inventory, I check each name to each bird to which coop they are now in. It's a lengthy process!:D Anyway I noticed Jack my creole rooster who came from Nova and Benny and June my bantam drizzled Polish that came from mom2m.

Opa sorry to hear what you've been dealing with. Nothing really makes things better but having friends and family support goes a long way toward making it bearable. I hope you get some good news soon.

My Seremas are in the house this morning. When we moved their coop to the winter location, near the electric plug, we noticed the plug was damaged. DH said he would fix it. That was two weeks ago, still not fixed and since it's only 29 out the chickens are in. Sadly DH was already off to work when the rooster started his crowing. It would have been good motivation.

Opa, I am so sorry to hear about your troubles. It Is certain, though, that there is no one I know better able to handle adversity. I know your family is rallying around you, but please let me know if there is anything I can do. And tell Granny I said Hi.

So sorry to hear of your health issues!! But, you are one strong dude and with that positive attitude, you will come out of it stronger! Wish I were closer to help you out. But, I know your family is there for you. You will be in my prayers!
