My chickens are entertaining guests!
These 5 wild turkeys are regulars in our yard every day. They have a routine.

Thanks @lovechicks1293. I'm pretty happy with it so far. Between myself and my 78 yr old father and my mom who's 75, it's taken all summer to get it to this point. Electricity will have to wait until next year. Guess I'll be carrying water out several times a day this winter.

So yesterday evening my weekly 'rump check' for mites turned up a bunch on one of the cocks. DARN IT! Today three of the pullets are starting to lay eggs, wonderful, except I've got to treat everyone for mites, and not eat the eggs. BLAST! I'm not a happy camper, but that's life. Keeping those rotten house finches out of the coop seems impossible. Any suggestions? Seems like about three times/ year I'm dealing with mites. Ugh! Mary
It is almost impossible to remain free of northern fowl mites. In my experience it is always the whites and the mature cocks that get them the worst, the hens don't seem to get them as badly although they still do get them. Hopefully you can find a method to at least control them. I just expect to be treating mine every 3 months or so.

I think I'm the only kid here
What age qualifies for being considered a kid?
