Coopers hawk vs. Peregrine falcon? I can't see if it has the peregrine's mask from those pics, but I had one near me in the summer. I've more recently had a pair of red tailed hawks flying above, but not attacking my chickens. Their screech always makes me worried for the girls. I also may have had what I think was a cooper's hawk trying to get some of my juveniles more recently, but I didn't get a very good look at it. Definitely a medium sized raptor.
She's a Toy Aussie Shepherd. 9 pounds of chicken herding and watching fury.Big what kind of dog is Belle? she's pretty.
Looks a lot like the one I found this spring. DNR did get back to me on him and concluded that he just must have had a bad run of luck hunting and starved to death pretty much.
If it tucks up some place that's out of the wind like in a pine tree, it should be alright. My husband saw it wandering around on his trail cam, so I now that a predator now didn't take it from the fence area. Is it too cold for a chicken to survive by itself at night?
All my 5 girls were there at 4:30 today and I only had 4 at 7:00. The auto door was shut. The missing girl is one that will sometimes fly over the fence. If she had flown out and couldn't get back in, is there any hope of finding her tomorrow?
I realize that it might be more likely something nabbed it, but I see no feathers are any trace.....
