Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

My kids, and their mom, went in with the bigs last week. Mom had to kick a few feathered hindies, and one of the adult hens thumped an overambitious young cock, otherwise they are getting on great. Youngsters even went in the first night, probably thanks to their good mother hen, who still tries to cover them (all 9) at night even though they are over half her size.

My four surviving bantam babies are doing pretty well without their mama (killed two weeks ago, with three chicks). It's always sad, and of course the wrong little cockerels died, but the cute pullets are fine. I do need to move a very few birds on before winter! Mary

Thanks @Folly's place. I ordered eggs online, but none of them turned out. So I am trying to find local eggs that I can pick up, because I just don't trust the mail after that.

Willjr, did you visit Fowl fest at Birch Run last weekend? There were MANY Silkies there, although few or no Polish. I have Belgian d'Uccle and EE bantams here. Mary

Just went out to the barn to set a trap for a possum, found today eating my barn cat's dinner. Bah, humbug!!! Time to get the varmit, and only feed the cat while I'm watching her eat. Mary

Feed the possum to the cat? <evilcackle>

I did not. Is there a website or anything that has different bird shows that take place in Michigan?

That is a great question! One I want to know as well!
Probably not just one site. There are private swaps offered throughout the year at MI Game Bird association. They post events at their site and the MI Poultry Fanciers club that sponsors Birch run show usually has one in the Spring too.
