Tree that blocked the road. I still need to cut and split the main trunk. Right now there are several 4-6 foot lengths.

Forgot to mention that Ethel, my EE has started laying again. None of the chicks she raised are POL yet but she has been giving a blue/green egg every other day. She is almost 5 years old.

My time at the library is up. Bye.

Won't have to worry about firewood this winter! Isn't there a restaurant in Caseville that has free wi-fi?
Well yes and no...That big tree will need to season first. It is pretty green yet.
Also gathered some more wood from where the county crews were clearing the road. They cut it and leave it in 5-6 foot lengths in the ditch. Just have to drag it out and get it home.

Will do some more cutting after I leave the library.

I've got a first time broody sitting on some eggs. She's on day 2. Am I nuts to let her sit? She tried to go broody about a month ago and I was able to break her after a day but this time she's not giving up, she even stayed on the nest after moving it to the dog kennel we keep in the coop.

What all did you do to break her?
Do you have space for more birds...and a plan for the extra males??
As much of a pain in the butt breaking might be, too many birds could be worse.

I just kicked her off the nest a few times last time and she gave up. I'm more worried about the time of year than extra birds. We have space for a few more and she only has 4 eggs. We'll cull the boys and eat them if need be but so far I've had good luck giving away my extra boys on Craigslist. I just feel so bad breaking broodies. She's our third this year.
