Welcome! Placing cockerels is difficult, and I'm doing it every year, because I have chicks here, and especially the bantams. Have you posted signs with pictures at all your feed stores? Are you willing to do craigs list? There's a small livestock auction every Saturday at Geyer's, just west of Webberville, off Grand River Ave. I take birds there sometimes, especially those cockerels.
There are swap meets around Michigan too, and there's facebook. I don't do facebook, but there is a chicken group, and some sales and trading happens there.

Thank you for your response and especially for all of your suggestions for rehoming my Roos. When the hatchery sent an extra chick in my order I just thought it was a happy accident. Little did I know it was a cockerel, a stow away! Soon a second chick was taking on habits and traits of a cockerel. The hatchery guarantees 90% accuracy in sexing chicks. Two cockerels out of 23 shipped is 90% accuracy on the button!

My friend has posted them on facebook and I have posted them on the best farm buys site. Craig's list is on my list as a last resort. I am not familiar with Geyer's so that is an option that I will certainly consider. I usually buy feed at TSC but I don't think they have a bulletin board. I will definitely check to be sure. Do you know how I can locate swap meets? Thanks again,

Welcome, Charlie! That's one reason I have never wanted to hatch chickens. What to do with the cockerels. I've had the pleasure of hatching for someone else and seeing the process. I didn't have to worry about the sex of the birds.

I got my EE's from FFH. I have 3 others, so there is hope!

You may want to check with Livingston Feed And Seed in Howell. I was very lucky with placing a young roo with a flock needing a rooster. Also see if you can post at Big acre in Brighton or Ed Bock in Pinckney. Good luck!!!

I am with you chickflick on not wanting to hatch chicks. I just want hens and I'm pretty sure my neighbors don't want me to have Roos either! As I told Mary, they snuck in on my order from the hatchery. They are so darn handsome!

What is FFH. Future Farm ??? I have also contacted the 4H in my county. Which was a non starter. Thanks again,

I appreciate your advice on Livingston Feed and Seed. I may have put myself on the "Bad" list at Big Acre. Months ago I mentioned that I got new chicks and the woman wanted to know why I didn't buy chicks from them? This was before their chicks came in in the spring! Plus, ordering from the hatchery allowed me to choose breeds that they may not sell. It is still worth trying! Thank you.

Eh...I wouldn't worry about that, you had a very good reason to order from hatchery.
FFH is Family Farm and Home, a chain 'farm store' like TSC.
Bulletin board is in the back by the bathrooms at my TSC.

Ha!! Nope, sorry...even if I could/would, you're too far away.
Mary has listed some good possibilities for you.

I use a very local facebook farm animals group and have sold several birds that way,
3 cockerels went within an hour a few weeks ago( a freakishly lucky event, doubt it'll happen again) and will be posting these 6 today and tomorrow. I already tried posting them before but had no takers, but will try again.

Dealing with extra males is part of chickeneering, especially if you want to hatch replacement layers as I do every year. I knew this going in and slaughtering was always part of my 'grow your own food' plan, but it's a lot of work and takes up a lot of fridge and freezer space...I may go buy another fridge/freezer yet before cockerel kill day next week.

Distance is no problem!! Have cockerels, will deliver! Lol! That's about how desperate I have become to place these handsome boys!
As I mentioned in another reply, these guys snuck in from the hatchery on an order of pullets.

I must tell you that before joining BYC I visited the site regularly for insight on one issue or another. Your avatar soon caught my eye and then I realized what a wealth of chicken information you had share! And, the fact that many posts were interspersed with your unique sense of humor was a bonus. I am currently building a second coop for my girls (boys not welcome!) and your advice on coop construction has been helpful as well. So, a big thank you to you! Now, would you like two handsome cockerels... delivered??? Lol!!
