Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Good morning all.
Raz hows the new job?

Both of my coops and runs are officially clean. Scrubbed em both out last night with soapy water, a hose and mop. Now I have to sanitize the insides, wait for it to dry and white wash. Hoping to have everything ready in my front coop to move the pullets in by middle of next week. My big coop is going to need some extra work. I want to put another window in it and a few other things. I'm not fast at building things and too stubborn to ask for help.

I like it so far. It's a very busy station so the hours just zoom by.
The only thing I don't care for is being in the cooler restocking the beer and sodas. It's 40 degrees in there and I didn't have a coat or gloves the first day. Second day I did but with the frostbite my fingers still turn white and ache. It will get better once I learn where the stock is.

PS On my last day, the interim manager at TSC told me that he is quitting too.

Good work! Makes me tired thinking about all that scrubbing, but good for you.
Chickenstock this Saturday! I'm deciding who to bring for sale. Any requests?
Mary
Cleaning isn't my favorite chore but it had to be done. I'm glad I'm getting closer to being done.
Wish I could go to CS but I'm scheduled to work all weekend. Maybe next year I'll be more prepared and can go.

Raz I'm glad to hear it's going well. I can't imagine stocking in a 40 degree cooler wo gloves. I know I live in northern Michigan but I prefer to be warm. I'm the weird chick that wears sweaters until it's at least 70 degrees out.

I don't blame him/her. There are plenty of jobs out there this time of year.
I will add that the TSC's up here seen to take good care of the livestock, always have food and water when I'm in there.

I visit two TSC stores often; the Williamston store does a good job with their birds, and the Milford store, not nearly as good.

I'm not a fan of the cold either. After the first day I went in with gloves and a warm jacket. As I learn where things are I spend less time in the cooler. I was in there tonight for about an hour or so. It was tolerable. :)

I don't place any blame on the interim manager...he had a couple of people working against him. That was the reason that I quit. Office politics is one thing, but deliberately neglecting the chicks was just more than I could take. I hope that the district manager will take care of those problem people. :fl

The Milford store had/has trouble getting good. qualified help. I suppose it's because they only pay minimum wage. Good help should be paid accordingly. Training, good training, is also necessary. I've been shopping at TSC stores for years. There are good ones and not-so good ones.
