Pullets won't be crowing, and cockerels start when they are ready. My earliest ever was a 28 day old Fayoumi! Many will start crowing much later, it just depends. I've still got maybe a dozen cockerels who haven't felt the need yet.

So I am starting into the home stretch with my broody hen. I set the eggs under her on June 5th. From my understanding they take about 21 days to hatch correct? What day so I start the count down. My kids are starting to get excited, so I was wondering when we need to keep a closer eye on them hatching. Thanks for the info.

did you mark the eggs so that if another hen crowds her and lays an egg in her nest you know which one to pull? I had a hen go broody and all the other hens did just that, eventually they pushed all her eggs out from under her. Luckily I was incubating eggs inside and had a loan egg pipping, so I stuck that under her. She has been a happy hen with that loan chick to mother.

I have her separated from the rest of the flock, so we have no new eggs collecting.

I think I have a nine week old and I'm curious if that's when they start crowing?I'm not sure what that's suppose to sound like though. She doesn't peep anymore just like a deep bocking sound, is that a crow trying to come up?

the first crows are a hoot, they sound nothing like a crow, but it is hilarious kind of a squawk,

We had a very few raindrops, the weather went around us here. Tomorrow storms predicted, so maybe then.
Four of my nine week old cockerels are practicing their crow! Love it! And, will need many of them gone fairlt soon.

Well it looks like I am going to be cracked open again. News today from the cardiologist's office...my doc is meeting tomorrow with the heart surgeon and they called in a thoracic surgeon specialist to review my file.

I should know by Thursday but the RA told me to expect the worst considering the location of the lesion.

2020 has not been a good year. Who's to blame? Someone has to be blamed, dammit.
