Is that Blaines of "Find value at Blaines Farm and Fleet" jingle fame? I see that commercial twice a day, at least.

That jingle isn't as annoying as most. Right now the betting commercials are my most detested. Especially the gal who says, "Make. It. Rain."

I agree with you that the coop needs to be done - but even I wouldn't put chicks out there yet even if it were. I keep my chicks in the garage (heated) in a brooder with the lamp out of reach and where I can monitor everything closely. I don't put my chicks out until they are feathered out and don't need a heat source.

Hubby and I have an inside running joke about that being our "favorite" commercial.

I just imagine people who sing these commercials.

"I got a gig! Millions of people will hear me!"

"Yeah??? How exciting!"

"It's a commercial jingle. 'Save big money at...'"

When I was a kid, there was an ad for rustproofing your car (oh, how that dates me!) with Ziebart. The jingle was, "Ziebart, Ziebart, it's us, or rust!" sung in a forceful male voice. My mom said, "Can you imagine the guy who sings that?" Oh, we laughed about that for a long time.

LOL, sorry to laugh, but I guess thats one way to increase your birds calcium uptake!!! Might get a little pricy! Poop diving time - aart suggestion spot on and good luck!

FYI: no jewlery, no painted toenails and bare feet, no frayed clothes or exposed tattoos!........ all food pecking opportunities in the chickens point of view!

I can put a heat source in my coop, but I don't hatch or buy chicks until at least late march/early april.

We are always here for you too Itty. I my be able to take in some of your flock but I have to see how things around here will go. I'd love to keep them all together but again I'm gonna have to see what I have room for housing for

sorry to hear this, Itty. I hope you tap into the housing resources through MSHDA and the local MDHHS. There are plenty of options around the State for all types of incomes. Good luck!

Hey guys, I do not have a pictured but the final product will be:
a line into the dirt to put cement block on it (4"wide) then place the mesh wire and then place the block so it holds it in place. It will be only in the outside with 30" outside. Then on top of the block, the coop will be placed on top of boards. Hope I explained myself good enough so someone can tell me if it is a good idea. I liked the apron on the pictures on the thread that Arrt mentioned but I am dealing with someone who is terrible at directions. I think is opposed to female authority,

I have one of those. I just do stuff myself.

The point of the wire is to keep predators out, so it needs to prevent them from digging into the coop/run.

Well, hope everyone enjoys the day. I am homey today and ready to nap. Amazed about the kids. Phoebe had spent this morning roosting. She is the biggest one. Sophia seems to keep struggling. She is behind on everything. I should re-name her molasses, , because she is so slow! I will be back later to keep reading about electric fencing. I still do not understand a bit of anything but will keep reading. Something may stay in my head.

get a package of electrolytes (tractor supply has) and add to their water. They could be stressed from getting chilled, shipped etc.
