Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

How long did you veterans take when integrating the new chicks before you let them completely integrate? Mine have only been in the big coop a few times this week, but the littles find a way to flip over the barricade and I find them hanging with the big girls which is flipping me out.
The bigs seem a bit unbothered by the littles who escaped. Do they gang up on the littles or attack them. How big of a risk is it if they mingle?

Is it the littles that knock down the barricade or the big girls? If they are mixing on their own with no problems I would probably let them go for it. But add something that the littles can hide within if they feel threatened. A weighted down box with a chick-size door, a low shelf, or other area too small for the big birds to get under.

Take that advice with a grain of salt. I don't always follow established protocols or rules. Or laws. ;)

Ditto Dat!

I'm loving this rain. Rained all day yesterday and most of today. It had stopped for a bit while I was at work but the drive home was fun. Rain came on hard. The sky, road, and shoulder were the same colour grey. Visibility was bad. Good thing I know the roads well, you couldn't even see the lines on the road.

We are under a tornado watch until 10PM. Radio says we might get up to 2 inches of rain. Rain predicted until Tuesday. Dog knows we need it. I hope we get some thunder and lightening. I love a good thun

At the above point, the power went out. It was 5:58PM. 20 minute outage. Life in the deep woods. The outages haven't been bad lately. Not like they were when I first moved here. Anywho, power is back on. The rain has stopped for now. And there is one of those eerie stillness in the air. Could be a good night. :D

Rained most of the afternoon here - bummer for the Car Show, they only got about a half a day in before the rain set in. We needed it badly, though.

My good momma hen has been out with her chicks now every sunny day in the last week. They are 2 weeks old now, and know how to get in and out of the coop at will. She has been keeping them in when it rains, good girl!

Since last Thursday, we have gotten about 7" of rain. We're on the Flat River, but it's about 100' below us. Not worried about flooding. We might become an island, but we'll manage.

In case you don't read "the funny page" as I call it, I'm posting this here too.

Why did the T-Rex cross the road?
Because the chicken hadn't evolved yet.
