Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hi everyone: last night was a heavy storm. Anyways, after dropping my truck at mechanic for brakes and a nail in a tire and a stop at TSC, let the animals out to a nice bath and breakfast.

Then I ask myself why are the quackies are growing so fast, lol. They are all spoiled and the know my voice. They cannot see me but when I say good morning, they give me real loud quacks, love it!
I also had to grab a sign for my back door, lol

So, I took pictures of the roof that it is finished. In the back, we put the clear ones left from the chicken run. I like that it let's light in but no good because waterers get moldy.

On my way out the back door as I was to turn the light off, this little guy was there, lol told him he better hide before the girls were out,lol

And it began raining again. Everyone is in and turned the lights on because it is dark in the run. Since I had those clear roofing, had to put a huge tarp over the whole thing.

Just had a thunderstorm, and some rain. Hope for more rain and less wind...
Love the tree frogs! We have so few this year, nearly no toads, and few other frogs, fewer turtles, and nearly no snakes. Not good at all!!!

The storm just blew through here. 60 mph winds and torrential downpours. My poor hens were getting blown around. The horses were frantic trying to get to their stalls. I shoved all the chickens in the coop, and threw the horses in the stalls. The temp dropped 17 degrees… it got cold fast

Where are you in MI?
It was a gnarly storm, fairly short tho, thank goodness.
Power stayed on, no trees fell on my house, and we got a deluge of rain, but the garage didn't flood.

That part felt great!

No damage here either, and only 0.25" of rain. We need more rain!
Horses are in pasture, and they know to run away from the west tree line, and away from the fences, in such weather. They turned and watched the trees, safely far away, blow around.
No power outages here either.
Sadly, another d'Uccle hen is failing tonight. She's four years old, and again, was apparently fine earlier today. There's one one year old, and three two year olds left.
Very sad. Maybe some d'Uccle chicks this spring? Outside chicks, not related to ours.

Lost a bird today, one of our oldest. She was a Belgian d'Uccle hen, aged five, who died suddenly shortly before i let them out. Purple comb and wattles, probably a heart issue, and appeared healthy until this. Sorry to see her gone, one of the few who survived our dog disaster that took so many.

So sorry to hear that. It’s never easy loosing an animal. It gets easier over time but they always seem to be missed when the memories come back.

We got the storm too. We were just finishing putting up our greenhouse panels but they weren’t fastened at the bottom. My husband ran out to tend to that and make sure the chickens were okay. They were blowing around here too and some were smart enough to go into the coop. But it was very short luckily. My husband secured the green house panels with pallets so thankfully no damage! We did loose a tree though but just one in the front yard. We will have to cut it up for wood or compost now whenever we get time.

But yea some storm! Reminded me of living in GA where we just moved from.

Saw the clouds coming in, so got the chickens put in their run. Lots of wind and blowing rain. Didn't amount to much. Lots of tree branches down in the neighborhoods. We have no trees near our house but didn't go looking in the field. Went thru fast!
My husband is a Lineman for DTE in SE Mich. He said there's 433k without power! He's going to be working major overtime the rest of the week (and we were supposed to leave for Mackinac Island tomorrow - just gonna be me and the kids now 🙃) #linewifelife
