My Gertie is gone. She was the matriarch of the flock. Top hen, but never aggressive. A very good girl. ♡ I didn't think she was going to pull through, to be honest. But my heart couldn't cull her. I hope she felt loved in her final days. I did what I could to pamper her.

Reorganized both runs today and I'm pretty pleased with the outcome! I also reorganized my "chicken mess" in the garage which hubby never ever complains about Something about getting all the chores done before the weekend that just feels great. I also had my little helper (Shuri) following me all around the yard while I was at it.

Also a blue egg!! This was laid by Pepper, who was having all the trouble with her laying. I added oyster shell into the run about a week ago. Here's to hoping she is back to normal

We had a bear run through here this morning around 2:30. Then when I was talking my dogs out for a walk at 9 a bald eagle flew low overhead. Dogs were leashed. That's the 4th time we've seen the eagle in the past few weeks.
