It was a perfect weather day to have the gathering. Met a new wonderful family. They were a delight. Vince, Irene, (?) Sophea, (sp) and Vivian (I think) Great to talk to everyone again.
My pup's name is Smokey Joe.
Next year, I do hope our regulars are able to make it. We did miss you all.

There are some great (cheaper) hotel options in the Grand Ledge area. Only a 5 minute or so drive from the park.

Freya and Smokey Joe both cute, glad they could come too, it wasn't too hot for them either.

Recipies:
my mom's German potato salad, and I made a lot more for Saturday.
peel and boil about eight potatoes, then slice them.
cut up and brown six slices of bacon, and some sliced onion, poor off most of the bacon grease, and add one cup sugar
one cup vinegar, either white or apple cider type
1/2 cup water with flour to thicken, maybe 1 Tbsp
boil to thicken the sauce, then pour over the sliced cooked potatoes.
tastes good either hot or cold, and better the next day.
I made it Friday for Saturday.

Maders cucumber salad
one long slender cucumber peeled and sliced thin
1 tsp salt
3 Tbsp vinegar
3 tsp sugar
small onion or green onion, sliced thin
1/2 cup sour cream
pepper
add salt to sliced cucumbers, mix and refrigerate for a couple of hours, then drain them and slightly dry with a paper towel
mix other ingredients and add drained cucumbers,
and top with minced parsley.
also good the next day!
