Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

One of my young pullets that I got on May 2nd has laid her first egg on Thursday! And another yesterday. She came up on the upper deck and was scootching around in a corner. Looking around. I went and got a nest box (crate) and put it in the corner. Eevee hopped right in and laid an egg. There was a lot of commotion going on in the coop where the hens were all wanting to go in the same nest box so guess she just wanted some privacy and quiet.

Have you looked into Smart Canners? I bought mine at Rural King. It’s like an Instapot but it has a canning feature and it’s a little larger in size.
No worries about canning on the stove.
Edit to add: It’s made by Nesco.
This is fantastic news for me! Thank you! We don't have a Rural King near us, but we make a special trip (usually to satisfy my husband's gun collection obsession 🤭). There's a high probability of I mention there is something I want to get at Rural King he will be all for it.

And I screwed up on my thawing of my tomatoes and discarded the water, which I now know has a lot of the needed acidy to be able to can it safely, so freezer tomato sauce it is!

@1muttsfan thanks for getting my brain gears working. I think pressure canning is the way to go for me, especially with all the fretting I do over my process.

That's so much earlier than any of my birds laid! Congrats and happy first egg day to her!
