Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I have a bantam EE sitting on bantam EE eggs right now, hoping for some nice chicks, next week or a little later. I didn't decide to let this happen earlier in the year, so here we are...
Toads: slow moving for a reason, their skin exudes nasty tasting stuff, most animals only try one once, as you saw.
Florida has a different toad species that exudes very toxic goo, very unsafe, not just bad tasting. Glad they aren't here, and that we aren't there. One of the several reasons to not live in Florida!

That's the Cane Toad in Florida! And the Manchneel Tree will kill you, too. It's so interesting to me that Florida is so wild. Also, the Gumbo Limbo (nicknamed the Tourist Tree by locals) isn't toxic, but looks crazy! Don't eat random fruit in Florida!!

No molting here, yet. I did not have any chickens go broody this summer. Weird. Enjoying the cooler weather.
My girl Flo is weird like that (the one who is molting.) Stopped laying about a week ago. And she usually starts back up in February. But I'm thankful that she lays at all, she's 5 years old.
I'm loving the cooler weather as well, helps me sleep!! I'm looking forward to Halloween which is one of my favorite holidays. It makes me feel cozy inside. Except the weather. Halloween is often the first day it snows for us after Summer.

Exactly! That would be super dangerous for me, as my chickens love eating live toads..
