Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Good morning, friends. Been busy putting away gardens for the year, and doing a little preserving. I have a garlic order arriving, soon. I'm trying a few new varieties. I'll get those in, and a few spring-flowering bulbs. Other than that, I'm just trying to keep up with the leaves. Ugh.

We did make it up to our camp in St Helen, last weekend. It's been a busy summer, so it was only my 3rd trip this year. I wanted to see the new gazebo we had built. The fall colors are nicer up there. I did enjoy that. I probably won't make it up again, this year.

I have 2 girls in heavy molt. We are down to 7, now. We lost our Sadie a couple weeks ago. Still getting, on average, 3 eggs a day - but our days are shortening, quickly.

How did your garlic do this year Sally, I believe you tried a couple of new varieties right? I planted Musik, purple glazer and german reds, the latter two were new to me to try. I think of those the musiks still are my favorite. The other two had good flavor, but the bulbs and cloves were far smaller than the good ol standby. I might try them again, but I feel like I get more bang for space they require if I just stay with the good old musiks.

@TheDandyLion, my Music garlic did very well, again. I also planted Metechi, but I won't grow it again. I can't taste the difference between the two, and it was supposed to be a hotter, stronger variety. The cloves are much smaller -- Music does win the contest on clove size!

I treated the cloves last year before planting them. I'm pleased with the results, so I'll do it again this year. I'll be planting in a couple weeks or so.
