I don't miss it, but still think it's pretty. And I love how still and quiet everything is when it's snowing.

This is the one thing I LOVE about the snow. It is so quiet! I'm not sure why, but the level of peace that comes with it always astounds me.

I think we have 6" on the ground. Hubby will have to run the plow, which he thinks is fun.

Yes, the quiet when it's snowing (but not windy) is amazing!

The temperature is rising; it's 30 now, and headed for a high of 34. Which means it's a heavy, wet snow. It's going to get colder tonight/tomorrow, which means it will pack down to ice.

Fun fact: the reason why everything is so quiet when it snows is because the snowflakes "absorb" sound, similar to foam in a recording studio. The bigger the flakes in the air (and the more snow on the ground), the more sound gets absorbed. On top of that, there's less activity happening outside when it's snowing heavily. Less birds flying around and chirping, most animals are hunkered down, less people and cars on the roads.

Even the wind during a blizzard can seem quieter because there aren't leaves on the trees to make rustling sounds, and the snow even absorbs some of the sound from the wind!

Our scarlet oak, which I planted in the front yard, still has leaves , not as red as last month, but still beautiful against the snow...

We got a good bit in Newaygo county. The chickens have a nice covered run but they refuse to go out of the coop.

I never winterized this year, so I get to shovel in the run for awhile until I get my tarps up so much heavy, wet snow. It let up for awhile, but now it's back at it again. The big storm has passed, now it's just Lake Effect.

Love your hoop coop/run. Is it covered with plastic?

7" here. I pulled all I could reach off the run roof.

It was "creaky" snow when we went for our walks. Our road has not been plowed yet. The snow has packed down to about 5", I'd say.
