Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

This is Patience and she is the one that hatched 10 of 11. Millie has only two chicks hatched out of 15 we put under her. Probably the end of hatching. We got 12 wellsummer eggs from Sam, six have hatched. Rose gave me 18 marans, and six of them have hatched. I tried to split the eggs evenly between the two broodie. Managed to do that too but # one kicked four out. Looks like the hatch will remain at six of each.. My Black Australorp, whom I thought would be the better mom didn't hold a candle to the Cuckoo Marans. Small sample, yep, I know.

Gonna see if I can post picts of Patience, so named cause she put up with pasty butt treatment so well as a chick, along with her brood. They look like a swarm in the hen house. Hard to believe they grow as fast as they do.

Love your broom, did you know chickens can eat broom straw grains?? I hope to grow some next year.
If my grand daughter saw that broom she would go nuts, a Harry Potter fan, ''

I take it that you have experience with this product. I was thinking about using it on the roof of the coop too. Does it just get brittle and start breaking or what?
I am not sure if that is the same stuff we have on our coop but it looks like it.... we have had no problems with it and it is 4yrs. old...May not last 30, don't know but at my age I don't worry to much about having something last 30yr.s

Way to go
Congrats taprock!!!

As for the football game... I'd let him go. He works very hard and deserves some fun time, it may motivate him to work harder at everything else just so he can make time to have fun. I do understand where you're coming from though, I have a high school freshman this year. Every kid needs a balance of social fun and sports and school. Hanging out with friends and showing school spirit is a very improtant part of the high school experience.
well said, but in the end, you are the mom and have to decide what you feel is best
I love my Sussex, they follow me all over talking the whole time,,, very good talkers

They're not that expensive at Sandhill Preservation.
I have a sandhill catalog but it does not show egg prices, do you have to check their sight?

Had a great day kayaking and out to lunch with a friend today celebrating her Birthday,,, she has lymphoma and has been battling it for more then 10 yrs...It seems to have gone into remission...... a lot to celebrate...

Love the chick pics, BobBry they are soo cute.... how do you like the shreded paper? looks like that is what you are using...I thought it would gunk up to much with the moister,. looks good in your pics

Oh... SHHH! LOL.

JUISE! Do you have a food dehydrator you'd be willing to loan me for a short spell? Want to make some fruit leather and apple and banana chips. The oven method just seems to darn time expensive... More time than I want to spend that is on it. I will use the oven... BUT if I do not have to, I'd rather not...

I was talking about chicks not eggs LOL
